Ad states door lock actuator/what arrived is labeled tailgate actuator, and that's what they are. Door lock actuators are not tailgate actuators. They have different factory part numbers, & electrical connectors. Door actuators produce far more power to push or pull a door lock actuator rod. This will not even work for door locks of the cars/trucks listed, it will only work on these vehicles if they have a hatch or trunk and this part is *NOT correct for the entry doors or pickup truck gates.

My lock actuators have been sluggish recently on my 1999 Suburban K1500. Sometimes working, sometimes not with the door lock/unlock button and remote. I had taken the door panels off and cleaned the rod and the seating clip where it passes through, even lubing the seating clip and no avail. I replaced front passenger door actuator and driver side rear passenger and WOW. Lock / Unlock works as it should. Now I realize my other door is also failing. So I will be replacing driver and rear right passenger next.

I have run into problems in the past buying aftermarket electrical/electronic parts that were made in China and sold at low prices. These were of surprisingly good quality and after installing them, they operate smoothly and work very well. The units come with mounting brackets; which have to removed, reoriented, and reinstalled depending upon whether installing the unit on right or left doors (the front and back side doors are interchangeable); however, the units do not come with a bracket for the rear door, even though the parts description indicates otherwise, so one has to reuse the old bracket by removing it from the old actuator, removing the bracket that comes on the new unit, and installing the rear door bracket on the new unit in the correct orientation hence the four star rating; otherwise, I would have given a five star rating, call it 4.5.After 25 years, I needed to replace the last two of the five door lock actuators on my 1999 GMC Suburban as they started to bind up and not allow the door lock to be locked or unlocked manually using the key. I had replaced two of the others previously with other brand parts and had torn apart the old actuators to learn why they were binding up so I was familiar with the failure mode and how to do the job. What happens is the rack and pinion gears, which are not metal, wear over time and allow the end of the rod on the pinion to wobble side to side from the direction of travel of the pinion. When this happens, the pinion binds up, usually in the extended position. The actuator will still operate electrically but not manually using the key. The motor that drives the gears usually is good although in one of the two cases this time the motor seemed to become too weak to drive the gears fully in each direction even after manually wiggling and unbinding the pinion. In the past I had cannibalized the two old actuators to make one good one for a ready spare and eventually I had to replace the third of five units. It still works. The old ones were too worn to cannibalize this time so I took them apart and recycled what I could (copper from the motor, steel screws and motor housing, and the plastic casing).

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I first decided to upgrade my Chevy Astro van that had no powered doors to have powered door locks. I'm almost there now, but at great cost.First, I had to find and install rubber wiring boots, which required drilling holes in the door and jamb. The boots were not meant for this model but they were the closest thing I could find and I made them work. Next, I had to find the last remaining OEM part, a lever mechanism to transmit the movement from the actuator; it still needs a connecting rod that I will have to fabricate. Then I tried to design a mechanism to use other cheap actuators to work, before giving up on that idea. Now, I have the actuators that will do the job except that they needed highly-specialized electrical connectors and a different connecting rod. Shopping online, I found only NAPA had the electrical connectors, which cost $30 each, more than twice the price of each of these actuators! After discounting the price down to $28 apiece with tax, I decided to get these. Now, all that remains is fashioning the linkage rod to fit the lever and this actuator. If you're contemplating such a DIY project, you now know what is involved.BTW, one of the actuators I received was missing an M4 nut, but that wasn't a problem for me to supply from my own stock.
