These core removers actually work well and are vacuum capable.

Well made and stands up to abuse. I’ve had other brands and after using this one, I won’t buy any other.

Despite the fact that this part (see photo) looks and is made completely differently from the one on the Appion website, the product is very well-made and works excellently. It holds a deep vacuum, nothing gets in the way, and it removes and installs the core under pressure without any issues.Overall, even if we assume that this is not an original Appion product but a clone, it definitely does not fall short in quality compared to the original. I am satisfied.

This is a well made product however, the one I received was used and the top screw was loose.

So I have a cheaper product that is made to do with this one is, however they do not fit the same, I find that this brand is made to fit in Tighter spaces, and you can put it at angles that are more likely for the real world if that makes sense I assume if you're here you know exactly what I'm talking about, but anyway go with this one, is constantly but it is better for hard to reach spaces, it works like a charm, it's not bulky, and this is in your pocket no problem if that's what you're trying to do with it

Seriously. Appion is the only choice, the extra few bucks are worth it. Works every time for a long time. I have never met a technician whom doesn’t emphatically agree, ask one.

INDISPENSABLE item for DIY minisplit install. This and the 5/8" one too. They should package as a pair.IMPORTANT.... Watch the triple evacuation video on Youtube from HVAC Tips guy ... I used his simple setup with two Appion Core removal tools. I did lose an hour wondering why no vacuum then I found and removed a "3rd" schrader valve, one was in the 5/8 Appion core removal tool, one in the 1/4" Appion core removal tool, in addition to the schrader inside the minisplit port. Once all three were gone, the vacuum sucked down fast. VERY HAPPY with the tool.BTW, if you're wondering what a schrader valve is, it's the same little screw in tiny valve that holds air in your tires. It works one way. No mystery to that thing. Those Appion core removal tools worked great.

I'm new to this, but I'll tell you what (I think) I've learned about this tool. Don't think of it as a Valve Core Removal Tool, think of it as your access point into your sealed system. Removing the valve core is a necessary part of that, but the purpose of this tool is to provide the two male 1/4" ports. The side port is always connected to the system and provides an all-metal (won't leak under vacuum) 1/4" connection for your thermocouple micron gauge, and the rear port connects to your 1/4" hose to your manifold. Vacuum your system down through your manifold, watching your progress on your side-mounted micron gauge. Then close the ball valve on this tool and your micron gauge is still reading system vacuum, while your hoses and manifold are out of the picture. This valve is vacuum rated to 20 microns, now you understand why that is important. This is the MGAVCT which has a female 1/4" connection to the system, the MGAVCR has a female 5/16" connection to the system and the same two 1/4" (side and back) ports.Note that if your micron gauge doesn't tolerate pressure you'll need something like a YJ 69067 ball valve to isolate it before you start adding refrigerant. (I think I've read the YJ 69075 doesn't like more than a few PSI)From the moment you get the recloseable clamshell packaging, everything about this tool feels like quality. All metal, great weight and feel, and really nice knurling. It comes with two spare o-rings, and instructions for buying a rebuild kit and parts should you ever need it. Packaging says "Parts and products made in Taiwan, USA, EU, and South America". The only thing that could improve this tool would be if it said "Made in USA" on it.
