I was not sure which side was heat proof. A lighter flame quickly melted one side and did not faze the other at all. After that there was no problem. My wife wanted a table cloth to cover campground tables. I purchased a nice plastic one. Then I was concerned about a camp stove and hot pots and pans on the plastic table cloth.This gives me a safe cooking area at one end of the converted table. It wipes down easy.
