I recently purchased the APC UPS 1000VA Sine Wave Battery Backup and Surge Protector, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This unit provides 1000VA / 600W of pure sine wave output, ensuring that all connected devices receive clean and stable power. The inclusion of Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) is a standout feature, as it instantly corrects voltage fluctuations without resorting to battery power, thereby extending the battery's lifespan. The UPS comes equipped with 10 outlets, allowing me to connect multiple devices simultaneously. Additionally, the two USB charging ports (one Type-A and one Type-C) are incredibly convenient for keeping my mobile devices charged. The LCD display is user-friendly, providing real-time information on power status, load capacity, and battery runtime. The user-replaceable battery design is a thoughtful touch, ensuring longevity and ease of maintenance.Since integrating this UPS into my setup, I've experienced uninterrupted performance, even during power fluctuations. It's a reliable and essential addition to any home or office environment. I highly recommend the APC UPS 1000VA Sine Wave Battery Backup and Surge Protector for anyone seeking dependable power protection.

I own 4 APC UPS units, and they have all performed remarkably and reliably.Unfortunately, even the best brands have occasional duds, and one of them did have a bad battery that quit after 18 months. I just knew that heavy thing was going to be a pain to have to ship off for warranty service, and was dreading it. But nope...I chatted online with a rep, provided a copy of the invoice, and performed one simple test to insure the problem was the battery and not the UPS's electronics. Took 15 minutes, the new battery was here in three days, no charge, and no requirement to ship anything (including the old battery) to them. They provided information about finding a local battery recycler and even have a service where you can (but don't have to) ship it to them for no charge if you choose to.Will you need warranty service? Probably not. My other three have never had so much as the tiniest of glitches and do a wonderful job of protecting my equipment and evening out any power surges or drops The batteries give you more than enough run time to safely shut down your equipment in the event of a total outage. It's not such a problem any more, but we used to have power that fairly regularly would blink or surge just enough to freak out my computer's power supply and cause it to reboot. Not fun at ALL, but 8 years ago I bought my first APC SMC1500 and it completely resolved that issue. By the way, more than 8 years later that unit is still going strong and hasn't even needed a replacement battery yet, though it's often operating near max capacity. Unless they take a sudden left turn into mediocrity for whatever reason, I'll certainly never buy any brand but APC ever again.

I've only been able to test this item by pulling out the AC plug (between the backup supply and the wall) while my desktop computer was on. The battery kicked in as it was supposed to and there was no interruption of current to my computer and monitor, both of which were plugged in to the back of the supply. The backup supply was able to keep the computer (i7 processor, 2 terabyte HD) and a 27" monitor going for about an hour.I haven't been able to test it with a real power failure, yet. When that happens, I'll add to this review. In the meantime, it has a lovely display which shows you everything you need to know. You have the option of turning this off if you find it distracting. I found the software easy to install. It seems perfectly silent, and I have pretty good hearing. Also, I don't feel any heat coming off of it (at least when it's in its standby mode, waiting for a power failure).So. . . so far, so good.

If you all know Jonny Guru, I do my reviews like him.Construction: Very tough plastic and feels very excellent. Construction does not indicate a good UPS, so this will be weighted very lightly in my rating. 1/1Sounds: No hissing sounds. The sounds were from a bad batch in 2018, its 2020 now, so APC definitely cleaned up their act. Will beep when the power goes out. If the fans are spinning all the time they are completely inaudible. Did they collaborate with Noctua or BeQuiet? 4/4Performance: I unplugged the UPS from the wall to simulate a power outage and it kept the power to the computer on. It is ONLY meant to save your work and shut down. For my PC when im doing office tasks, it lasts between 45 and 60 minutes on just battery power. 10/10Weight/Battery capacity: This thing is built like a tank! Meaning it is VERY heavy, which is good in a way because that gives you a feeling that this is a quality product and it is definitely! And this is where things take a turn. APC uses Sealed Lead Acid batteries instead of lithium ion or lithium sulfur batteries which would last MUCH longer in terms of capacity and lifespan. Unless im missing something here, APC should have used a lithium or graphene type battery instead of Sealed Lead Acid batteries. Does it have something to do with lithium not liking to be 99% topped off all the time? I dont know. For now, I will rate this category 8/10.Features: 10/10 1. Software: WONDERFUL management software where you can change the UPS settings and monitor it! It is configured by default to let you know if and when the power goes out via a notification on Windows 10 at least. 3/3 2. USB: This computer has a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port on it for up to 15 watts of charging, and a USB Type A port WHICH IS NOT A SLOW USB PORT either! You know when you plug your phone into your computer via USB, it charges slowly? Not with the APC USB port! Its like plugging the phone into the wall! APC did not cheap out on USB which I like. 3/3 3. Display: The left button on the front changes the screen to live statistics of the UPS. It tells you the load in watts and percentages, the AC voltage, how many minutes on battery you could last, and even the Hertz. The screen goes out after a minute which is very useful when I'm sleeping. It is behind a closed door in my cubby in my computer desk. 2/2 4. AC plugs: There are a few AC plugs that will be battery backed up, and a few plugs that only provide surge protection. Useful for devices you do or do not want to be backed up by battery, but do not want an extra surge protector for. 2/2Competition: The less expensive competitor is Cyberpower which provides similar or better features. I skipped it because cyperpower had much more negative reviews within the past 2 years than APC did. Plus I watch the YouTuber Techdeals and he recommended APC. I will rate 10/10.Pros:Awesome build qualityNice featuresNo hissing soundsCons:Lead acid battery instead of a Lithium Sulfur or Lithium ION battery.Do I recommend this product? YES!Who should buy this UPS? ANYONE who has over $1,000 in computer equipment that is plugged into an existing surge protector, or God help you, a power strip, that includes your keyboard, mouse, usb hubs, phones, computer, monitor, printer, laptop, headphones, speakers, etc.Overall rating: 43/45August 2022: Still works very well. It checks itself every now and then. No issues. This does not have a fan in it. Do not use this to charge your phone if the power goes out, it will smell horribly.

I'm not totally convinced a pure sinewave UPS is needed to simply safely shut down the PC and protect your electronics. Stepped/square wave might cause issues long term, but in the few minutes needed to shut down after an outage? I doubt it. That being said, this is priced so closely to the non-sinewave model that you may as well go all in and get the better unit. The 1350VA model has enough capacity to run a high end gaming PC with multiple displays with plenty of power to spare for other stuff like consoles, audio equipment, etc. The 3A USB ports on the front are a nice touch and will be handy for recharging devices in a power outage. The unit is solidly built and accessing the battery is very easy. From my understanding, you want to replace the battery every 3-5 years or so. Replacement batteries will run you about 30-40% of the cost of the original unit. The front interface can display pretty much all the information you'll need. You can view the estimated battery run time with current load, current load in watts, current load in percentage of total capacity, input and output voltage, etc.The software does have more advanced diagnostics but it's outdated and has some issues. Just look at the reviews for PowerChute on APC's own site... it's not pretty. Thankfully, this APC software is not required for the UPS to perform an automatic safe shut down. That is built right into Windows' power settings where you can choose what battery percentage it should shut down or hibernate the PC (this obviously requires you hook up the USB cable to your computer).I actually had a bit of a disaster with mine where some liquid was spilled on the top end of it (which is one large vent, so most of the liquid went straight in). A few seconds later, the unit shut down completely (not even battery power) and protected the connected equipment. It then beeped and displayed an error message. I unplugged it and removed the battery, then turned it upside down on some paper towels to let the liquid drain out, then let it dry for 3 days. It fired right back up once it was dry (that was a month ago, still working fine). No, I'm not claiming this is water proof. I'm just saying in my case it survived a worst case scenario, and, more importantly, nothing happened to the connected equipment.Overall, hardware is excellent. But they really need to update their software. It would be nice to have diagnostics without interfering with Windows power management.

The APC 1000VA Back-UPS Pro(BR1000MS) is true sine wave, at less than 2 brown notes, with a 1080 Joules surge protection. This kicks into the battery fast enough that my computer doesn't even stutter, even during a brown out. Front mounted USB-C and USB-A ports are convenient for charging cellular and external battery while protecting those valuable devices. In terms of value, the BR1000MS is comparably priced with the BR1000G and BR700G but with almost 3 times the surge protection and the BR1000MS has true sine wave instead of stepped approximation of sine wave that most other uninterruptible power supplies in this price range have. Sensitive electronic devices really appreciate the true sine wave as it is exactly the same as the juice coming from the wall outlet.APC has been in the game for a long time and their products are the gold standard which most other UPS are compared against. This UPS is not an exception to that and is a great value for these features!
