Very easy to install, looks good and sounds good, read a couple reviews saying the sound quality went down and was a little concerned, but that isn’t the case with my truck and I tuned it to how I like my music with the advanced settings,, once you get the whole console out the new one screws into the whole thing then you put it up as one piece, easy install and true plug and play. Now cutting wires if you have the factory plug still from original radio. But if your looking for a upgrade for CarPlay in your ram this is it

After having this unit for one day I can say it’s an awesome upgrade for the price. I had someone else install it, which I’m glad because I don’t know much about audio stuff. Overall this unit is GOOD! Sound quality after you adjust it is way better than the stock radio. I love the Apple CarPlay feature! In my opinion it doesn’t lag at all. It’s really responsive. I’ll update my review in a month or so to see how things are going. We highly recommend this to other Ram owners.

Probably a suitable replacement for a non-8.4 inch uconnect system, but too many issues just to gain Android Auto, if you have the 8.4.Pros:Android Autovery responsiveFairly customizableNot overly complicated installGood value for the money (especially if you have the basic radio)Looks very goodConsNext/previous buttons reversed on SWCReverse camera image dimFit of OEM climate control not greatRadio reception is terribleCouldn't sync with Galaxy watchInstall isn't terrible, and there are some good videos that detail where the screws are, etc. But removal of the two dials can be difficult (with two people it's easier). Additionally, the dit of the dash kit isn't perfectly aligned, so I couldn't get the volume knob to go all the way back on fully. This causes the knob to rub on the faceplate, but you can't just file the hole larger because it holds the clear plastic housing that "lights up." Also, the down temp buttons stick due to fit issues. I was able to fix this a little by loosening the screws holding the climate module to the back of the faceplateNone of these were terrible, and the reversed controls on the left steering wheel controls buttons was highlighted in other reviews. As was the poor image in the backup camera (Mine didn't flicker or anything, it's just very dim). There may be a way to adjust the camera brightness, but I never found a way.I have occasional issues getting the android auto to connect, but not until I changed the car launcher UI. I tried the Agama car launcher which was pretty nice (and allows you to put ZLINK as a button on the home screen), so that may have contributed the problems connecting. My biggest issue occurred this morning when I remote started the truck. I went out about 10 mins later and the engine was off. On the way to work I noticed my Check Engine Light was on (which explained why the remote start ended early). Later when I started the truck normally the CEL was no longer present. I'll uninstall the Agama launcher, to see if that fixes it (it shouldn't), but will likely return the radio if I can't use remote start. [I will edit this post if it corrects the issue].Update: no further problems with the CEL or remote start. Worked a few times with the Agama launcher, and still when it was removed. Added issues about radio reception and inability to sync with Galaxy watch.

Watched a few videos which made my installation pretty easy. I did change car settings to metric units before removing the old head unit and then changed car settings back to imperial units after install. Hardest part was removing the existing knobs from the HVAC controls and reinstalling. Use plastic pry tool and pry at lip of black knob, rotate knob, and then pry again. It will come out in two pieces. Reinstall outer piece with grooves aligned so it will snap back in place. Center piece will snap back in place with text in horizontal position. Don't forget to remove and reinstall the opaque rings that fit around the volume and tuning knobs. No problems with OEM backup camera by just connecting the yellow male/female RCA's. Picture quality may not be as good but sufficient. No modification/connection to trigger wire needed. Radio quality and volume is good and can see artist and song titles. Quickly connects to my phone via bluetooth. I choose to install the two new USB's and not try to reconnect the existing media hub, which may have had connectivity issues. Hope this head unit will last a few years.
