These things require significant force to assemble. Counterintuitively, it can help to get it part way assembled, plug it into another assembled plug, and then finish assembling. It can help slightly to try to scrape down the spring metal where it tries to cut into the crimp part of the pin as it's pushed in. They're also pretty darn tight once connected - I had to use a pipe wrench to get them apart (not willing to pull on the wires) - maybe they loosen up a little over time...It's possible my one-sided crimper made the pins slightly the wrong shape - maybe an all-around crimper would be a better option for these. Maybe there's a trick to it - maybe I was just doing it wrong. Good luck.5 stars overall because they won't come disconnected on their own. No chance. In a lot of applications involving these, that matters more than needing some ad-hoc tooling to get them assembled.

Used with a set of 6 gauge welding/battery cables to wire up an extension cord to get from the battery on our RV to a macerator pump toward the rear - about 30 feet.Short set of cables from the battery to a set of these connectors, other set on the end of the cable wired to the pump.I had a slight issue getting the pins snapped in after making the crimp, but that was mostly due to the extreme flexibility of the cable I was using. It does require a special tool (or some ingenuity) to crimp the pins on the wire. This is not like crimping a butt connector. I knew this going in, and happened to already have one from previous needs... but I read some reviews about people not knowing/understanding this going in.This is larger and thicker, as its meant to handle a heavier load than what many are use to working with.
