These work great for my calligraphy hobby, using fountain pens and ink. Ampersand products are great.

I use these encaustic boards for an art class I am taking. We are using these small boards as the covers for little books that we are sewing from art papers.

These are great for the small size art that I like to do. I wish they also came in rectangles and not just squares. I do a mixture of collage, watercolor and transfers from copies and the wax holds well on this surface.

These boards are not the ones in the picture, they are only 6"x6" and quite thin. But they are nice and smooth and seem to hold the wax well.

I love Encausticboard for ease of use. If you are new to encaustic painting you can't find a better product. Heat them up gently, layer on your first layer of wax, and go to town. They are cost effective if you want a great study right out of the box. When I want to make something for sale, for a friend who has asked for a commission, for something special I would not hesitate to use Encausticboard. Mostly I use gesso prepared boards that I find in the recycle pile, or cardboard that I prep with several coats of R&F Encuastics Gesso. So I laud these boards for beginners who need a great smooth surface, or for works that you want to show or preserve. Oh And the Gesso - awesome.
