I purchased this scroll rod because it was the only one I could find that was 36". However, that's about all it has going for it. I've purchased and used a variety of scroll frames - this one is the worst. It won't hold the "scroll" at all and I have to keep "rescrolling" and tightening the nobs.A side note to anyone wondering, it doesn't work well with other brands. However, that didn't influence my rating, just something I wished I'd known. Also, the side bar isn't adjustable - only one size - something else I wish I'd realized before purchasing.

I liked the size and the ease of assembly but I cannot keep tension of my fabric. Thinking of getting some heavy duty Velcro to attach my project to the frame. The tape that came with the frame is just not strong enough to hold the project tight.it’s a shame. The scroll frame itself is made very well.

This frame has worked very well. I needed a large frame to hold a beaded picture I am working on. (Fully beaded it will weigh about 3 pounds!) The frame is holding the work relatively taut, which makes it easier to work on. I wish the rods were a bit thicker tho. These rods are a bit more flexible, so that when the tension is set very tight the centers of the rods tend to bow a little, making the center of the work tauter than the edges. It's very slight, but heavier rods would solve the problem.

I love this frame so much. I thought the 36" rods were a bit overkill, but they're perfect for those huge projects that would destroy you if you tried to put them into stretcher bars, or would get destroyed if you put them in a hoop.The rods are nice and sturdy, and the frame does not twist or warp like split-rod frames do. The velcro system keeps your tension drum-tight without having to deal with constantly fiddling with it to make the frame fit in your stand, or to adjust the tension every ten stitches. The screws on the rods are sturdy and stay tight, and since the rods are screwed in at the ends, instead of clamped in with the extender bars, you're not going to be messing with that much either.This frame is enormous though, and you will absolutely need a floor stand. That said, even with the 36" rods, I do prefer to use the 6" extender bars, as opposed to the larger ones. The smaller extender bars make it easier to reach my stitching, and aren't as hard on my shoulder as the long one. Anything above the 12" extender bars are a bit of a waste, since your arms will not be long enough to reach the top anyway. Because of this, I tend to use the scroll frames for the taller projects, because they let me work without trying to make my arm fall off.

I absolutely love these American Dream Oak EZ Stitch Scroll Frames. I received my 36" frame today. It's perfect. I have already attached my next project to it which is 32" wide. This will make working on it that much easier. I found that this seller also has a website where the 48" set is sold and I've purchased that one too. Thank you Embroidery.com for selling these. They are wonderful. So much better than those Edwards frames out there. These are extremely well made. They are smooth to the touch. I use them for needlepoint and cross stitch. Believe me if you purchase any of these stitching frames you won't be sorry. You'll wonder what you did without them all of these years. You'll be a return buyer too.
