This display replaced an old HP computer monitor I was using. Much thinner, lighter design. Better picture quality and the aspect ratio allows for all cameras to be clearly viewed. Came as described and on time. Great product for the price.

In my review of the video monitor, I want to point out that this is the first time that I have used or reviewed a “surveillance video monitor”. I was not sure how this differs from a standard computer monitor, but upon reading into the description, I understand that these are meant to be used as an always on monitor. I like the concept, and after using the monitor for about two weeks, I can say that I would highly recommend this monitor as a always on surveillance monitor. I use this in my office to view my various cameras using the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software. I think this monitor really complements my various security cameras which range from 1080p to 8MP, by providing really good color and clarity. I will say that the audio is not great, but I don’t think much is expected from integrated monitor speakers, particularly one that is so thin like this one is. All in all, I have been really happy with this monitor. It’s nice to have a dedicated security camera monitor that has really good picture quality. I think 22” is nice as a table top monitor for my office and would fit most applications. Given the price point, I think I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good always on surveillance monitor.

GOOD: Integrated speakers are a nice feature, but could use some refinementGREAT: Color/Saturation reproduction and adjustment, plug & play for VGA & HDMINOT SO GREAT: The plain-jane cardboard packaging, User interface could use improvementIN-DEPTH: The Amcrest 22" Security and Surveillance Monitor arrived from Amazon.com the day after ordering, as is usual for me with a nearby Amazon warehouse. At first glance, the plain-jane cardboard packaging was kind of disappointing, as I'm now used to seeing Amcrest's modern and vibrant packaging on the rest of their products. However, the plain packaging is likely more eco-friendly and still got the job done -- which was to protect the product until it made it to me -- it accomplished that task well and arrived in perfect shape. Inside the box is pretty simple, with the power cable, HDMI cord, the stand, and the monitor -- each nicely packaged and protected with a nice & thick layer of styrofoam.I highly appreciated the addition of the HDMI cable, as the monitor the Amcrest unit is replacing (an old Acer) was VGA/DVI only, and this saved me from digging through one of my parts bins for a spare HDMI cable. The source for the video/audio in my case is an Amcrest NVR, so I hoped for a seamless install -- and truer words could not be spoken. After removing my old monitor from the existing VESA mount (100mm x 100mm), I found that my VESA mount also included holes for the 75mm x 75mm incorporated into the Amcrest monitor, so installing it to the VESA arm was as simple as removing four (4) screws, and then reinstalling them onto the Amcrest monitor. The thinner profile of the Amcrest monitor was much appreciated as well, as it allows the mount to snug up closer to the wall where it is mounted. I retained the existing VGA connection for redundancy, but also utilized the HDMI connection (which offers both extremely better resolution, but also incorporated sound). The higher resolution and integrated sound of HDMI were a welcomed feature addition which enhanced my overall surveillance experience. The downward facing connectors also help the monitor keep as low profile as can be against any surface behind it, as no cables are poking out behind it.After hooking up the power cable and clicking the power button, the monitor boot time is very quick, so the signal is reproduced within a couple of seconds after clicking the power button. I have the monitor displaying a set of 8x 4K Amcrest IP cameras, and the extra resolution available on this monitor (1080P) is worth every penny (since I was using VGA beforehand, 1080P was not available). I'll note that since I had both HDMI and VGA hooked up, the monitor defaulted to VGA mode (which is understandable), given that many surveillance systems still rely on this antiquated system connection. However, it took a bit of fumbling around with the monitor buttons to get the screen into HDMI mode -- but once setup, it's been running steady for the last 7 days without a hiccup. Color saturation/brightness/contrast can all be adjusted with the menu, and once you get it figured out, the monitor is capable of very good image reproduction. Also appreciated is the LED backlighting, which is great for energy conservation since this monitor is intended (a la advertisement for 24/7 surveillance monitor) for 24/7 usage.While the integrated speakers are much appreciated in this monitor to be a true all-in-one solution for a security monitor, I do wish that the speaker/sound quality was higher. The audio is distinctly "tinny" -- but admittedly I didn't have high expectations for integrated speakers -- so I wasn't too disappointed. The sound quality is good enough to hear what's being said and also to pick up background noise (like chirping birds). Notably, I can't speak 100% as to the quality of the microphones on the Amcrest cameras, as I've always been more interested in the image portion, so it's always possible that the monitor's speakers are producing the same quality audio signal that they receive from the camera. As stated earlier, I was using a VGA connection on my last monitor, and had not been using the 3.5mm audio connection from my Amcrest NVR to power speakers, so the sound portion of my surveillance system is still new to me.Overall, while I do find that the device may need a tiny bit of refinement, it will fit the needs of probably 99% of all users that need a surveillance monitor. It's sleek, low power consumption, great video reproduction, and decent audio reproduction make it a strong competitor when compared to the competition. Once setup, it's truly a set it and forget it system. If I were in the market for another surveillance monitor, I wouldn't hesitate to use this monitor to power up the given solution. As expected, it paired perfectly with the rest of my Amcrest ecosystem, and will now be a permanent fixture.

Theimage from my cameras on the NVR looked great with the default settings. Atfirst I thought that a larger size would have been better, but then when I saw itinstalled in the space I have available, I understood that it was perfectly what Ineeded.When I connected it to my Mac I had to adjust the default color profile since theblack tones were seen in gray tones. After choosing the correct profile the qualitywas amazing. Good quality for the price.Audio: 8/10The sound quality of the built-in speakers is acceptable and this is where there isroom for improvement. I understand that it is a monitor designed for suvelliancestation and not as a media station. With that in mind and for the price of the unit Iwould say that the sound quality is justified and I would still recommend it as asolid option for what it is designed for.Installation: 10/10It comes with everything I need (HDMI cable, power supply and screwdriver) tomake installation a breeze. The monitor is very light weight, in a few minutes Ihad everything ready and operational.Features & Quality: 9/10I was surprised by the quality compared to the price. It is an excellent value. It hasall the necessary ports and settings to perfectly complement my Amcrest NVR.It should be noted that it is a fixed position monitor and that it cannot beadjusted to different angles or heights. When installing it in my surveillancestation, I had to make several changes to have a good perspective of the image.Overall: 9.2/10An excellent monitor focused for a surveillance station with everything necessaryto complement it in a simple way and with the quality that distinguishes Amcrest.I’m satisfied with the product and yes, I would like that in the future Amcrest canadd features such as 4K, adjustable base, better sound quality to extend the focusof the monitor to other areas.
