This light being from Amaran/Apurture I expected this be budget priced but also high quality and it honestly it delivers in both of those categories. Being an RGB light it's completely adjustable as expected and also includes some of gimmicky FX that a lot of people probably won't use might come in handy for some things. The diffusion filter on the light is clipped on with magnets but doesn't offer the strongest connection in my opinion as it can be easily knocked off if someone bumps into it. If the filter or light had pins in the corners to hold it in place so it doesn't shift around it would probably solve that issue but that's something they can fix if they do another revision of this light. The only place where I can really feel the budget with this light is with the included clip/mount, it mounts with a magnet on the body and also locks in place but the mount itself feels really cheap in my opinion, and I don't know how long it'll hold up to prolonged use. There's also a magnet on the back, which is very strong and will stick to metal things quite well. This being a newer amaran light it works with both the amaran app as well as the apurture sidus link, the first one being more of a consumer app where the latter is more of a pro app and can link with other aputure/amaran lights. Overall, it's amazing light, very easy to use and setup and if you're using it as a small run and gun light or as a practical or accent light in a studio for set design, this one is a great option.

This is an amazing portable light. The brightness is impressive and a fully customizable color is perfect for artist. Battery life is better than my Nanlite tube. The only issue was I had to purchase this twice. First time the buyer sent a trail cam and not this. Had to reorder and send back incorrect product but I was refunded.

This light is incredible. It's pricey if you're used to all these $35 portable LED lights out there. But this light's output blows those away, the flexibility of tuning the colors is really extensive, yet it's relatively lightweight and portable. I don't care much for a proprietary connector but that's the connector to the light, not to other things. It's got a 1/4" on the bottom.

That's right...ordering this almost feels like theft.I have at least a dozen little video lights already, but could not resist ordering this light. The specs just drew me in. I was skeptical that this light could do all that Amaran claimed it could. Well, this light does it all and Amaran is not exaggerating in any way.Packaging is minimal and organic, which I like. It comes with a diffuser which attaches magnetically...so quick and very secure. It also comes with a proprietary cold shoe mount which is really neat. No more screwing the light on and off. Once the mount is attached to your camera or light stand, you can attach and detach the light very quickly. Besides the mounting brand new mounting system, the light also has a quarter inch attachment point. This light also has a very strong magnet covered with a nice silicon protective cover. I can put this light on any metal surface and it will stay put...it even stayed on my light stand's base tube...very strong magnet and it won't scratch a thing.Charging...powers up in an hour and a half...from zero to 100%. The light also has a USB port so I can run it in studio without affecting the battery at all. I can run this light like crazy on plug power, and then grab it for field work and the battery will be fully charged. This is a full spectrum daylight unit, allowing all the way up to 10K.Bright? You betcha it's bright. You can have the full 25 watts and you can even put it in boost mode which will push it to 32 watts...you will be surprised at how bright this light can get.On the flip side, you can put the built in fan into silent mode which then cuts the lumens down to 25%. This is great for close up macro video work. At the reduced wattage, the battery life soars upward to around 4 hours. That's nearly a full day of field work in reality. The light can be adjusted to almost anything you need...almost any color and intensity. The saturation is incredible, even at low settings...the lumens drop at low intensity, but not the saturation. The LCD screen was a surprise as well...very sharp. and with colors.Amaran includes an app so these lights can be altered on the fly and from a distance (bluetooth). The app was easy to use and I found it a breeze to figure out. It's a well designed app. Nothing complicated about it.It has a fan which is pretty quiet. It is difficult to hear at arms length, and unless you have your mic behind the fan, it should not ever be a problem. If it is, as I stated previously, it has a silent mode. You lose lumens but not control. The fan stays off. I usually am lighting off to the side anyways so this isn't even a consideration. The fan is very quiet.I have a lot of these types of video lights, and nothing I have comes close to this.At this price, these lights are a steal...highly recommended!

I'm probably not the target audience for these lights. I don't shoot video at all but wanted to give continuous lighting a try. I'll just be using these for fill in relatively well lit rooms and maybe headshots. I got the RGB version because who knows, maybe I'll experiment with video sometime in the future. I can also use them for a splash of color on backgrounds. They put out a surprising amount of light for their size. The fan is very quiet. The link app works perfectly just like with my MC Pro. Speaking of which, the build quality is just ok but not nearly as solid as the MC Pro. I believe Amaran is Aputure's value brand so that makes sense.Haven't used them to really shoot yet. I've just run through the menus and checked things out. They seem great though. The one thing I can already tell is I don't like the Ace Lock. It's very cheap feeling and doesn't give a solid mount. There's a ¼-20 on the other side of the light but then the light is mounted upside down. Not really a big deal because I control them from my phone anyway but if you are working from the back of the light seems like it might be challenging.
