I like that the scale is packed in a plastic triangular tube. The things I don't like - the quality is down as this is no longer "Made in Germany". Edges of the ruler are rough, the markings appear to be printed on top of the plastic instead of etched in. Again, the most annoying part is the ad for this scale - showing something the customer won't be getting!

Nice to have a reliable means to transfer measurement data to a piece of paper. Even though CAD and GIS options are available sometimes it is best to just get the gist of an object on paper scaled for reference.All metric, but not sure regarding the 33 1/3 scale is truly metric although I can think of some uses.Sturdy and time tested.

Although I prefer metal, it's hard to beat the lightness and rigidity of this triangular rule from Alvin for drafting and sketching. It's made of a premium high-impact plastic and offers a shiny, easy-to-read surface. Note that only one side of this 3-sided ruler is in actual centimeters. The other sides are scaled up/down in different ratios such that you get 6, 10, 12, 15, and 24 units for the same 30 cm length. (You can assume that the 12 unit side is a 12-inch ruler, more or less.)Although a few other reviewers are dissatisfied since the ruler was not made in Germany, mine was made in Poland and has the same level of quality. My only disappointment was that I had to throw away the plastic box that came with the ruler since its cap was missing. Not a deal breaker though, better to keep the ruler on my desk than in its box.Recommended.

I run a small 3D print farm in my basement and often have to calculate measurements from customer drawings. This Alvin scale is perfect. I typically work in the metric system, so I opted for the metric triangular scale. I did drafting in high school and always used Alvin products. The quality has not changed in over 25 years!This scale is made from nice quality plastic and the markings are perfectly precision. It includes a nice triangular sleeve to store the scale and prevent damage. I would definitely recommend this Alvin scale!
