I have been using this tape on watercolor and colored pencil paper and find this tape will usually pull off a bit of paper when I pull it away from my artwork. Not all the way around but just in some spots.

This is real drafting tape, not painters tape. I use it with velum, drafting paper, and sometimes bond paper from a printer. It holds all equally well for the required time. It comes up easily without damage when required.

I use this tape to hold down my watercolor paper. It holds it well and comes off easily without tearing.

I have been watercolor painting for many years and for some reason I never knew about drafting or washi tape for masking off the edges of paintings to keep nice crisp edges. Use this tape because I don't want the color of typical Washi tapes to interfere with the perspective of my paintings. This tape is perfect and holds exceptionally well with watercolor washes to the edges and lifts well off hot press, rough press and cold press papers.

It’s drafting tape. It seems to work fine. It’s slightly less sticky than my last roll of tape.Also I accidentally ordered 1/2” and I for sure meant to get 1”.

I’m a professional artist and drafting tape is the one thing that seems to be hard to “get right.” You want it to hold securely for a period of time, while at the same time pulling off when ready with no residue or damage to your paper.Usually, the tape doesn’t stick or hold more than a day or so, or it holds too well, consistently pulling off the fine finished layer of your drawing paper. AARGH!This Alvin brand seems to be about the best - it holds well over a long period, and if you pull it off carefully there should be none or very, very minimal damage to the surface (which in my case is always the area under the mat/frame, anyway). I think the times damage has occurred it’s been my fault for removing the tape too aggressively.All that said, apparently the manufacture of drafting tape is a compromise, and this is about the best I’ve found.

High quality drafting tape, which can also be used while drawing a personal art picture. Important to note is the tape holds very well plus with a normal, careful removal will not rip your drafting or art pieces.
