These are the sort of thing I need to replace the round headed blind rivets of my 1963 Airstream trailer. They can mimic the look and seal of the original rivets. The issue I ran into is that you must apply a LOT of force to get the split to expand, and in a few examples, the pin just mashed out instead.Well, some of the new pin-rivets had come apart in the bag. That lead me to discover that the pins were just blunt cylinders going into a flat-bottomed hole (with splits cut). Most pin-based split rivet like fasteners have a conical bore and a conical tipped pin - see photo #2, a pin that I spun and ground down to come to a point.Yes, just that little modification made that rivet split with much less force. It would be even easier if the bore hole had a matching conical bottom (like a normal drill bit would make).Another note, the top of the bore hole has a rounded edge. Flush with the pin would make for better cosmetic appearance in my application - looking more like a round-head solid rivet.Price is high for the issues I found with these.
