Your cart is empty.Alumicutters are a lightweight, but strong 2-in-one tool that allows one to measure then cut along the smooth raised edge that protects fingers. When fingers are in the groove, the blade has a barrier that prevents injury. There is also a non-slip backing made of neoprene to keep the Alumicutter in place. Measurement markings are created with a photo anodizing process that prevents them from being rubbed off. Made of extruded aluminum, it also makes a great inking edge. I have sliced my finger with an X-Acto at lease three times while cutting with thin steel rulers, so finding these was a blessing. Recommended by a well-known fused glass artist, I bought12”, 18”, and 24” sizes for my studio. They work well with glass cutters. HIGHLY recommended.

I worked in an industry wear we had to make precision cuts all the time. This is the best ruler for that. Lets you rest your fingers in the groove to protect them while you are cutting (we also used this groove to rest our Xacto knives in when we weren't cutting so they easily found when needed). I had an 18" for years and got this 12" for smaller cutting jobs.

As an architecture student I need a good straight edge for cutting rolled paper and a wide range of model materials. This one is the best for it. Some others are flexible and leave you with ragged lines; not so with Alumicutter. It is quite stiff and has a soft non-sliding underside so you can count on a clean cut.One thing I noticed: they used to put a hardened edge of some sort on the cutting side of the ruler - stainless steel I think. They don't do that anymore so you are just cutting against aluminum, which is softer and more prone to nicks and gouges. It didn't bother me because it's ruled exactly the same along both edges, and one edge is clearly for cutting while the other is for measuring/drawing. Just an observation if that matters to you!

This ruler is awesome. Keeps your fingers safe when cutting with a rotor cutter or razor utility knife. The ruler is very accurate. Made of very nice heavy duty aluminum and has a lanyard hole to hang it up and keep it straight.
