It is exactly what I needed for light sanding work.The base is honeycombed, so it probably isn’t for heavy pressure sanding, but for the wood I have been working with and the finer grits, it is excellent.

So happy that I ordered this!! I paid around $7 and I’m more than happy with the block! I sanded a folding table instead of trying to get the sanding machine. Similar to the ones that I used ages ago.

Good product, very solid, feels good in the hand. Only one issue, and it was my fault: the description says "Convenient design uses 1/4 sheet of sandpaper," and I didn't realize it was four long narrow strips. So I bought a big pack of 1/4 cut sandpaper as if you folded a sheet in half then half again...oops. If you make the same mistake, you might try the approach I took in the photos, cutting slits and attaching from the side instead of around the ends. Oh well.

This is a modern design to the old standard sanding block. Instead of just one block of rubber, the little "flaps" are spring loaded and made of another material designed for flexing. The block has molded in areas for a better fit to the hand. Those are the good parts - the not so good part is it leaves little grooves in a fine finish. I have narrow areas that require a linear sanding motion, and when I use clear paint over those areas, you could see little grooves in the reflection. I tracked it down to the block - as can be seen in the picture, the bottom has little ventilation holes molded in - unfortunately, there is rubber flash - excess rubber from where the mold fits together - that protrudes from the bottom. On very fine 3-4k grit thin paper, these bulges telegraph through and cause an uneven finish. Probably OK for a coarse finish, but really should not be there on the bottom of a block that needs to be smooth.

I refinish a bunch of old furniture and very often need to hand sand. This sand block makes the work so much easier! I like that it has slots for the rectangular sandpaper however, if you have the sticky round sandpaper, that works as well. I like this product a lot.
