Needed this to put a hole in a kitchen sink for a soap dispenser, but this drill bit would not cut the metal.

First, this comes with a pretty nice aluminum case for an inexpensive set of drill bits. It says they're titanium coated, but because of the way step bits operate, that large round section doesn't do any cutting. It's the flat edge that cuts, and the coating doesn't wrap around, so you're not getting a lot of benefit from what I can tell. They do cut, but it's nothing particularly noteworthy. They're sharp enough to cut through thin mild steel but they struggle. So these are OK, but not anything that special.

I drilled the plastic cap of my kayak. It’s not too thick but took a while to get through, granted I used my power drill on low to not screw it up because I only had once chance to do it right. I am very happy with have result. The size fit my wire connectors perfectly and the edges were smooth.

These take a little longer to cut than some other step bits but for the price and quantity, I'm satisfied with them. I don't use them often but when I need one, it's nice to have this variety on hand.
