If you work with SC style fiber you *need* to have this tool with you at all times. Dirty connectors are the most common cause of issues. I have found religion about cleaning fiber - even fiber direct from the factory.Each time I am going to connect something to a bulkhead or optic I use this tool with a couple of clicks to make sure there is no dirt or oil on the connector face.While this can be used to clean the end of male connector ferrules, I greatly prefer Cletop units where I have an exposed connector. I feel like I get a better clean.Note that I have bought cheap Chinese knockoffs and had issues with them, so I have switched back to the AFL ones.One downside is that I always seem to break the silly cap that covers the tool when not in use. All of our units have it ripped off, broken, or lost for some reason (perhaps our tech's are not very gentle with them - but I have broken one myself).
