I got tired of cranking the handle. I took a chance, despite some of the negative feedback, and bought it.I have a series 1 "J" head Bridgeport. This control installed perfectly, no modification was needed even the keyway fit.I'm not sure why others struggled so much to install it. I've been a tool and die maker for over 40 years. This was child's play.

I have a drill mill so I do not have a knee. I built an attachment so I can use this unit to raise an lower the head on the mill. After some experimenting and subsequent modification to the attachment the power unit works great. No more hand cranking the head up and down. I use the hand crank for close adjustments and the spindle micrometer for fine settings. I love this z-axis power feed.

Yes I took a chance on Chinese garbage, bit me in the @$$.1. no instructions, literally just a diagram.2. says it fits grizzly in the instuctions- no it doesn't.3. adapter collar doesn't even align with the parts it comes with.4. you will need a lathe to fit this up. The gears do not fit the shaft.5. blew my GFCI when it was plugged in. I spent half a day modding my lead screw and making a adapter braceck to mount it only to find out it cant power up.nolongdingdong can't build anything worth the money.

So obviously if you're buying this, you'd doing so with cost as a consideration. Given that, it's perhaps not surprising that there are compromises. I went into it with eyes open, knowing that this would likely be the case. However, given the fact that this is clearly a standard import item branded many different ways, I thought maybe I'd get lucky.Nope. The adapter ring that fits over the bearing collar is not even close to the right size. You absolutely cannot install this item without the correctly sized collar - it's what attaches the motor to the mill. I'm not sure what mill the ring is sized for, but clearly it's not a 1978 Series 1, and I doubt it fits any other Series 1 either. My plan is to make a replacement. Even ordering material from McMaster Carr ($$) I don't think it's going to cost more than $50 to make one, and it'll be less if I can source plate elsewhere. I mean, I have a mill and a lathe, and it's just a piece of steel with some holes in it. I don't think much precision is required, either. If it installs correctly with just this one hiccup I'll count it good enough. I'll try to remember to update this review if it's otherwise.I rate the item two stars because there's basically no reason for them to be at all unclear about what mills this item fits or doesn't fit. But not one star because I don't think I can in honesty say I was that surprised, and if I can get it working just needing to fabricate the one part, well, that's not too bad for the price and effort.

Dont buy this one unless you have a machine shop to modify everything. Virtually none of the pieces work. The bevel gear did not fit on the extension shaft so I had to turn the shaft down on a lathe. The mounting block was not the correct diameter so I had to make a new one. This is just a collection of parts that can be modified to resemble a power feed. Shoddy workmanship and not even close to fitting a Bridgeport series 2 mill. Lots of work went into getting this stuff to work properly. What I saved in cash cost me in time.
