Had this for over a year now and the 4 feral cats we feed have adopted it as their home base. I originally thought the lightweight construction would not last in snow and hot weather, but so far so good. Also, the price was far less than what I would have spent just on the materials to build a similar one.

I like the style of house, great for my feral feline. However, even with the liner, it definitely needs added protection to make it warm enough for a snowbelt state like Wisconsin. My handyman added styrofoam insulation to the floor and walls of the structure. I added self-reflecting beds inside plus an outdoor safe heating pad on a constant lower setting all of which I found on Amazon. (luckily, I have a safe outlet and the house is under a porch overhang). I also bought heavy duty, water repellant canvas tarps (Cartman brand- also on Amazon) and draped them over this house and a smaller one I have on the porch that created a cozy cave between the 2 structures, blocking wind, snow and rain. The house is up against my house so also gets some residual warmth. All of these steps enabled my feral, Shadow, to stay warm and dry through the brutal negative 30 degree Wisconsin winter. The house and liner alone would not have been enough! But, I liked its size for Shadow to sprawl out and to also see out so he could feel safe. For the summer, I will remove the "cave" effect canvas tarp and only keep one draped over it to protect the house from getting any rain inside. As for ease of assembly, I think my handyman's skill for building allowed it to go smoothly. He had a drill and only looked at the directions enough to make sure all the parts were there. For a novice, it wouldn't be as easy.

The material is ok, I would say the wood they used is cheap quality but I like the design, cute little outdoor house. My cat is not using it(not going inside) but he lies underneath of it.

Overall, it’s pretty nice, disappointed on the paint that seems to be wearing off where the cats step in and out of the house. I’m sure they are scratching their paws on it, but I was hoping that the paint would last longer.

I really like this cat house, however it did arrive having a VERY strong smell to all the pieces. It smells of chemicals, possibly the stain on the wood? Every piece also had a strange coverage of crystallized residue similar to fibre glass or insulation particles all over them, falling off if touched. I washed down every piece with water but am still seeing it in some spots. A bit concerned what that might be. It’s assembled and outdoors but still smells strongly.Love the look of it and design, hopefully the cat will go in eventually when the smell is gone.

I put this together myself but as you get to the top portion with more screws another person is helpful. The wood framed door flap should be replaced or propped open and needs a different flap.Cats don't use that door so I tacked a white rag over it with a slit for winter and works great giving them more privacy.A heated pad fits inside great.Even lined the inside with styrafoam duct taped on for winter and straw.Cozy warm!!Great buy of the ground is nice.Needs more of an awning which all these houses do...over the entrances to keep rain and snow blowing in.We nailed a whole piece of plastic from Menards(cheap) roof cover over the whole thing at an angle with wood to hold up ends.Wish it came with that.

I have several cats and they just love this house. I put a large heating pad in there, thank goodness I did. The weather has been extremely cold . I love the fact that you can open the top of the roof to put food, water and check to see if everything is as it should be. You even have a side door to check on them. The house comes with a built in porch. I look out in the mornings and see the cats sitting on top of the house and they also use the porch. It is elevated off the ground in case it does snow or rain they are not in danger. I would DEFFINATELY purchase this product again. Worth the money to have a roof over their head and protection from the weather.

Upon putting this together we could sense the temperature change after the removable insulation was in. My ferals aren't using it yet. One strong point....after putting it together leave it open, no insulation, for a day or so out in an open accessible area so they become accustomed to it.

Even though my cats would not use this cat house I am giving it a five star rating. It is well made and easy to assemble. It is a nice cat house, I don't know why the cats would not use it, I was really disappointed in my finicky felines. I donated the cat house to a local cat rescue organization, so all was not lost.

I love this house! It was fun to put together and not too challenging! The wood and oaint didn’t smell like it had bad chemicals. It smelled like cedar actually. I was happy about that for sure. The liner is a total insert so no wind or drafts can get in! The toof was a bit hard to put together but it’s gin. I left on side of the ridgecap unscrewed. I couldn’t figure our how we’d open it if bot side of the ridgecap were screwed down. The keybis getting my cats to goninto it. We’ve used cat nip, put a blanket that smells like them in it, and they are very stubborn cats! It’s a good size and I have 4 smaller than utside cats. I really need this for them. I know they found my shed to hide in but this is more warm and practical for them. I bought a secind one because I don’t think they all want to be that close in one of these.
