There seems to be confusion on wether or not this water pump is genuine, Because of the large grind mark on the surface. This is simply just Aisin removing the Toyota logo. I have an oil pump for an early 22R (81-82) and it has the same thing.Why? My guess is Aisin doesn't want Toyota logos on their parts, people are also replacing their original water pumps with the Toyota on there. The casting is the same and over 30 years old.The gasket is really nice, the material is the same as what Toyota uses.I have yet to install this, it will be replacing an already leaking autozone pump (Less than 3 years mind you)If I have any issues, I'll update!

I believe this is the real deal. The casting, machining, and components appear identical to the one that came off my truck. I think the "Toyota" is ground off so it can be sold by Aisin at non-Toyota prices, but the characters are part of the original mold.This fixed my coolant leak, and I have had no issues with it so far. If you are also leaking oil from the front main seal, I highly recomend replacing the oil pump and the TIMING CHAIN GUIDES as well. I also did the oil pump, and I'm kicking myself for not doing the chain guides for only a little more work.EDIT: I have been experiencing overheating problems so I bought a water pump from 22RE performance which actually turned out to be made by Nissan. The Nissan pump is far superior to this one, but also costs more. The casting is better, the impeller depth is correct, and the impeller chamber was machined in places. I don't think this water pump was causing the overheating issues, but it definitely isn't as nice as my new one.

Bought this pump for my 1986 Toyota pickup 22r. This pump works fantastic! I've had it for about 5 months now.

I got this pump and I was instantly skeptical because there is a grind mark on the outside that seems pretty strange... The thing spins, but there's something I can't put my finger on that I don't trust. I'm not even going to bother putting it on. I'll get something from 22RE Performance.

Very nice OEM part, but this is the second item i have received from this company with a deep grind mark like something has been removed.I am hoping this is not a knock off Aisin part. The build quality seems great, and feels like it should last a long time as long as it's an actual Aisin.I had chosen this part based on the great reviews, so i am not to worried about it failing.Maybe Aisin can chime in on this.
