Blank nesting doll overcome through up to 15 operations in the hands of a turner before becoming a finished doll. The artist uses special fine brushes and water-based paint. The final step is applying safe varnish.

I hardly post reviews but I had to in this case because I was so on the fence buying these gorgeous nesting dolls. Some reviews were positive but others harped on the fact that it took weeks for them to get here because they are from overseas, or that it was difficult to twist open the dolls, etc. I wanted to come on here and say i got them overnight, the colors and drawings on them are absolutely gorgeous and remind me of the good quality toys I used to get in my childhood some of which I have kept my whole life. The dolls themselves are so easy to twist open and I was really amazed at the size and intricate details on even the smallest doll. My husband and I were both amazed at the quality. This is a keeper and I am going back to order another set, this time of the Santa dolls. What a nice way to make your home festive :)
