one of my vents is near 2 exterior doors & my laundry room. due to this, i need heavy duty filters, so my sc doesn't run constantly. these filters work great, so my unit doesn't run non- stop. the first month i started using them, my bill dropped $100, no joke! i have to change them every month, but it's worth it.

These filters appear to be of good quality. I recall a comment about the size being off...I placed it against the 3M filter I was replacing...this filter was approximately an 1/8 of an inch shorter than the 3M... that size difference doesn't affect anything in my furnace...price point is fair for these filters...delivery was quick...only took one day.

I like the merv 8 for my older Carrier heat pump. It is supposed to be 16x20 but these fit better with less room around the edges for unfiltered air to enter. When the HVAC/mechanical company was doing the maintenance, the coil (looks like a radiator that hot or cold coolant goes through) got dirty with dust, hair and lint and the condensate didn't run down to the tray but instead dripped onto the filter, getting it wet and sagging. That caused more unfiltered air to enter and it was so bad there wasn't much airflow in the system, no AC to speak of. Instead of getting a new heat pump I took a chance and took a shop vac, dry soft paint brush and air hose and very gently cleaned the fins of the coil. Viola, works like new. This is 1/2 inch too long and sticks out a little but as soon as the air flows it's tight up against the frame and with it being wider I don't get nearly as much unfiltered air in the system. I cleaned it this year with both paint brush and foaming coil cleaner. It was pretty good to start and like new after. I'll keep using these slightly oversize air filters. As far as merv 8: "8 is great" is what an HVAC pro told me, especially for older systems

They fit and preform very well. They cost less per unit then buying at a store. Worth the purchase.

These are better quality than the basic Garrison brand accordion filters available from Canadian Tire and are certainly worth an extra couple bucks each. They are sturdier and less susceptible to warping under the pressure of a continuous fan.
