We bought this for our porch. The assembly was very easy. It gives up great shade while sitting on the porch. It's very sturdy and holds up well

This is the second awning we've purchased from this company. Several years ago we bought the 8' wide awning and have been pleased with it. The awning held up well. We'd made some adjustments to the patio, and wanted a second awning to supplement the one we already had. Of course I went back to the same company. It arrived in record time. Again, the materials used are high quality. And while not entirely easy to assemble, we were able to put it together in a couple of hours. However, there were some issues. 1) one of the mounting bars (which on this model have to be put together as they're in two pieces and would be too long to ship in a single piece) was the wrong one. The company had shipped us two RIGHT hand bars instead of a right and left bar. We were able to make it work, but it required drilling additional holes in the other end to be able to attach the screws. 2) one of the adjustment bolts was cross-threaded. Again, we were able to make it work by tapering the end of the bolt, thereby grinding off the ruined threads. And 3) the two nylon washers that keep the moving arms separated were missing, requiring a trip to the hardware store to find 2 nylon washers that would fit (about $0.59 cents for both - but a nuisance nonetheless). It's up now. It's functional and serves its intended purpose. A little tighening up on the distribution side of things and this would be a 5-star review.

We didn’t even have this a year.Putting it together was problematic because of the directions. We did get it on the house with little issue. We fully extended it and the wind blew. Game over. The awning was flailing around while we hurriedly rolled it up. Then we had to build support devices because that first bit of wind bent something. So now we had to unroll it when we wanted to use it. Set it up on the braces we built off the deck to hold it. Then a gentle breeze again blew it off the braces we made. Then we added hooks to the braces we made to hold it up and keep it level. The first time we used it this spring, a shower came over us out of no where! While rolling it back in, the bolt snapped that held the left arm in place. Half the roll was up and half was all over us and our guest. Picture children crying and old lady’s wringing their hands and begging to get off the deck.Still, we aren’t quitters. We had our kids weld the broken bolt and went to put it back together. As we were doing that, the other bolt broke. So we ripped it off the house and threw it in the trash! We bout hit May 2022 and trashed it June 2023. Now there are holes in the siding and we have no shade.

Instructions are barely adequate in that there's NO LAYOUT plan for brackets that mount to wall.I deal with sketches, blue prints, drawings, CAD etc all day. Nothing like that on directions that came with this unit.ANDBrackets will not accept the securing bolt that holds shade to wall mounts except bottom-up.Safety-wise, if bolt loses the nut, bolt can fall out (down). You can imagine what comes next....Overall, the shade's adequate. What I did not expect was the heat savings of a shade especially above this window.Kitchen (and house) is noticeably cooler with shades out.I'll probably get a 3rd unit and grumble about their engineering a bit more. Will install to cover an 8 ft sliding door to deck.KEEP IN MIND: the wall mounts fit the too-small space near end of main tube.Sorry, you'll just have to find a great handyman or handywoman if you can't figure it out.

I read the reviews. Pro: Honestly, its hard to find a better price if your look for awning. Others are more pricey vs this one. But you get what you pay for. Yes assembly of unit is required as it comes out of the box in separate parts. If you follow the instructions (which at most, is 80% okay. Youll be fine. I had difficulty putting on the front skinny metal piece that is placed between the main awning fabric and skinny awning fabric-the instructions isn't very clear as what piece goes...the illustrations don't help either. very vague. Other than that, everything went smoothly.. Until you get to the part and noticed its off (as with other reviewers mentioned). left side dips lower about 5-9 inches vs the right side. Depsite the instruction stating do not adjust. trust me, adjust it. after doing so, then it will be perfect. only time will tell how long this lasts. but for the most part, its good to go.

We are very satisfied with these awnings. We bought 4, 8 ft tan awnings. Assembly was done by one person (me) and a child as my assistant. The videos helped and I Referred to the paper copy included and the videos to counter check and be sure I was doing things right. It took some patience but came together pretty well. For hanging the awning you will need two people and two ladders and need know a little something about proper fastening. Such as securing it properly so that it won’t be hazard. These are easy to roll out and rolling in takes just a tad bit of effort but is pretty easy also. The one problem I had was with the T bolt that connects the side arm bar to the front of the awning and allows it to be pushed in and out. We had two bolts shear off. One before we assembled the whole thing and hung it, and another one after we had it assembled and hung. The company was great the first time it happened and sent out the replacement part quickly stating that they had strengthened this part and it shouldn’t happen again. I recently messaged them about the second part that broke and requested a new part for every awning to be sure it doesn’t happen again. If they don’t send the parts I will update but as of now I am a satisfied customer and despite the hassle of the bolts shearing off I would still order these awnings again. They are great.
