First, the piece is mostly made of solid wood not particle board with wood look printed plastic film on top. It is very sturdy and well designed. I bought one over a decade ago and it's still as strong and sturdy as the day I assembled it. Now years later I wanted another and was glad the company is still around.Second, it does take a couple hours to put together, but the assembly is very straight forward.Overall, I think this little drawer cabinet is still as great a value as the one I bought all those years ago.

Unhappy updateAfter having this under my desk for a month I rolled it out and discovered the top split into multiple pieces. (See photo)I really like this cabinet, it's made of real wood but they got cheap on the drawer slides.Assembly was easy with some exceptions. The drawer slides are plastic and don't line up 100% with the holes so they took quite a bit of force to get in place. One drawer has the rail bent from not installing correctly and the drawer is very hard to open or close.Once the top drawer slides are in place it's VERY difficult to screw the top down as the slides block 4 of the 6 screw holes. It can be done, but it's not as easy as it should be.The directions instruct you to nail the back on for added strength. These nails should go all the way around. On the sides and top the overlap for this board is small enough it's hard to get the nail in. Also on the bottom edge (instructions show to nail this also) there is a large gap that makes it impossible to place nails here as instructed.I wish there were a few more color options, but overall I'm thinking of buying another one.Jan 2022 edit. I rolled the cabinet out from under my desk and the top is split in two spots! There is an inch of space between the top of this and the bottom of the desk. The drawers still don’t slide easily. Opening them is a two handed task and requires some force to get them to slide.

Fantastic product. I moved my office to one of the rooms on the first floor of our home and purchased one of the Winsome wood folding desks sold here on Amazon. It is smaller than the room wherein was my previous office but I like being on the first floor and able to effortlessly take breaks to go outside on our gorgeous property. The Winsome desk is smaller than my huge L-shaped desk upstairs and it does not have drawers. Where to put everything? I have a whole lot of "everything" which I absolutely need in order to work. My office needs are not exactly zen-like. So I bought this product and I love it. I wheels around like a dream and the draws are of sufficient size and number that I can fit everything in them.I have thought about getting a second unit but so far, I have not needed to do so. Everything fits in the one unit and the top of the unit is handy for my beverage mug or file folders in use on any given project, as the case may be. I might buy a second one for my sewing area where it would be ideal. There are just two issues with this product. First it comes in a million pieces and needs to be assembled. I was very intimidated by the number of pieces and the complicated directions. Overwhelmed is more like it. Fortunately my husband put it together for me - much to my great relief. The second issue is that the wood - which is otherwise a pretty good quality - has some rather dark-staining knots in it. Such does not esp bother me - I think the unit is very attractive. However, if you are very fussy about this sort of thing, you might find that disturbing. For example, my particular unit has a fairly large and darkly stained knot the top and two on the side. Your unit may not be perfect like the one featured in the picture. I love my unit anyway but it is something to consider if one is a perfectionist and disturbed by such issues.

I've put together many pieces of pre-fab, DIY furniture in my life--including large, multi-drawer & cabinet storage pieces--so I had no hesitation about purchasing this item, with the intent of using it for jewelry storage. This small cart should have taken a few hours to put together at the most--working at a leisurely pace. Instead--three DAYS later--I've just dumped the entirety of the mangled shell, and drawers into a large plastic garbage bag where I anticipate it will be mercifully taken out of my sight by my local trash company... ...unless even THEY refuse to have anything to do with it.As other reviewers have noted, the construction design of this piece is not at all bad. If they had just spent a few more dollars on development and research to make sure the construction components actually WORK, this could have been a top-notch little product, instead of landfill or bonfire fodder. My problems began with the plastic drawer slides that were to be installed on the sides of the cabinet. The instructions state to gently tap them in with a rubber hammer. Ha! A blow from John Henry's hammer couldn't tap these in place so that they're flush with the cabinet side: the pre-drilled holes are too small to accommodate the hard plastic posts of the glides. I tried to work around this by heating an Xacto knife and then shaving off bits of the plastic posts--a couple hours of work right there--but still managed to chip off parts of a couple of the glides while getting them into place.I figured I could work around that--the glides weren't so badly chipped as to cause major function problems--but then found myself facing the problem of not being able to get the sides and top flush while putting the main body together. When one of the wood dowels ripped a chunk out of the top, it became evident that the problem was--again--a size mismatch among components. No probs--shaving down the dowels and copious use of wood glue should suffice--right?While waiting for that mess to set for a day or so, I began work on the drawers. Here I discovered that almost no guide hole are drilled in the drawer components, and the very back part of the drawer bottom is held in place by small nails, rather than having a groove that it sits in on the back piece. I finished a couple drawers and then waited a day to see how they actually worked in the cabinet. I chose a section where the drawer glides had actually installed without problems, slid the drawer in--and it stuck halfway in. I tried to pull it out--nothing doing. I gave it a firm yank--which also caused a side piece to begin separating from one of the bottom struts--and examined the drawer and glides. As near as I could determine, the wood grooves in the drawer sides are just a fraction too narrow or shallow, at points, to slide along the glides.I briefly considered whipping out my trusty Xacto knife once more...but then began mulling over the fact that I had already put far too many hours of work into this piece of furniture that would never be very sturdy or functional, due to its many construction problems. I reached for a trash bag instead. I consider it to be a $50 lesson learned--and thanked the heavens that I decided against the larger, more expensive Adeptus cart I had been looking at.
