I love this coat, I bought it for the first time 7 or 8 years ago and it kept me warm through some very harsh winters. When that coat got lost in the mail, I replaced it with the same product, never thought twice. It looks great, fits comfortably, keeps you warm without being bulky or puffy, and is reasonably priced too.

I'm 5'9", 160 lbs, 33 waist, 40R suit, work out regularly. I needed a business topcoat to wear over my suit on those blustery cold Midwest & East coast winter business visits. I bought a 40 Long since I preferred to cover as much of my suit as possible. I just wore it to a snowy Midwest / New York business trip, and LOVED IT based on the 4 criteria that matter most to me: Fit, Warmth, Travel, and Looks.Fit: I bought my suit size. The topcoat fit nicely over my suit coat without pinching at the shoulders, without scrunching up my suit sleeves, without messing in any way with my nicely tailored Italian suit. Damn perfect.Warmth: OK, so I'm Californian ... but weirdly I obsess over getting too warm / sweaty in my nice suit & tie. This topcoat kept me comfortably warm in 20 deg weather -- but with a coat & tie underneath, I wasn't TOO hot. It was just perfect for a 3 block walk in a light snow. And a Long covered me down to mid-shin, nicely protecting my suit. Again, perfect.Travel: It's surprisingly light with a smooth, not "fuzzy" finish. I folded it (neatly) into my roller bag, flew across the country, unpacked it, shook it lightly, used a lint roller to brush it out a bit, then boom: wrinkle free with no iron (are you not supposed to iron wool/cashmere? No idea, and thankfully irrelevant now). I wore it when walking outside, took it off inside, lightly shook off the rain/snow, folded it over a chair, and boom wrinkle free when I wore it again.Looks: I know nothing about coats -- I just want to stay warm, protect my suit, and why lie, I'm all about looking good. Suffice to say that I received plenty of positive comments from clients and colleagues about how nice my coat was. And you know, clothes make the man LOL!Well, I'm not sure how durable this is, but it's perfect for those business visits to the Midwest & East coast -- and I definitely wouldn't think twice about spending $120 for a new one every few years (although I'm guessing this will probably last much longer). Plus my wife approves and she's always right. Good luck with your purchase -- I loved this topcoat.

Edit - I've had for a few months. Very happy, if I needed a wool full length overcoat, I would buy this, given my experience with it thus far. Another reviewer mentioned pockets being too small. They are smaller than my previous overcoat, but my gloves fit in them and there's still plenty of room for my hands.Contrary to the other posts, my black 40R did not have a smell. Perhaps this issue was remediated in the production process? I wore it today for the first time. I like the look and feel. Another button maybe 6-12 inches above the most upper button would be a nice to have as the "V" portion of the front, when buttoned, is a bit exposed, but that's no worries for me, again, a nice to have.I rated 4 stars as I do not give or believe in a 5/5 rating due 3 things, 1) fake postings by bots or hired help. You know this post was not made by the company or someone they paid, 2) dumb people who fail to comprehend what 5/5 means, or 3) no one can earn a 5/5. I ordered and paid for a top coat. A top coat arrived, it MEETS expectations. A routine purchase, by definition, CANNOT exceed expectations. 5/5 means my expectations were very much exceeded. In what way was a routine purchase "exceeding my expectations"? Did they refund me the purchase amount? No. Did they send the corporate jet to pick me up, flying me to the mfg. location first class? No. Did they send me a coupon for a free Coke? No. Did they rent me a Penguin to pay catch with for an hour? No. Then no 5 stars.

Based solely on first impression and price point, I am pleased with this purchase. The construction is adequate, sizing proper (as in a 40R topcoat sized to accomodate a 40R sportscoat or suit jacket underneath) , wool supple, and I like the deep crimson/burgundy lining. Is it top quality and supremely durable; probably not, but I wasn't seeking either...simply a chesterfield-style overcoat for the 10-12 black/white tie winter events I attend annually. On the whole, it's a handsome piece that exceeds expectations for a $110 made in China product. Granted, one should take the ten minutes to complete the finishing (removing excess threads and brushing off the lint/stray fibers) but that's a small price to pay for a light-duty, economical yet elegant topcoat that manages to avoid looking cheap and lacking-in-quality. I had ordered this in unison with the Men's Single Breasted Black Wool Cashmere Full Length Topcoat from the same merchant; the wool/cashmere model was slightly undersized, overly padded in the shoulders, required more finishing, not quite as soft, and priced $20 higher. I was pleased that that was how my order turned out; cashmere coats are nice, soft, and warm but they will show wear on the cuffs and collar, attract more moths, and generally cost more while offering little to no advantage over wool in terms of warmth or appearance.
