I keep a lot of $$ worth of food in my freezers and it's nice to know they're maintaining the right temperature range. This matches with the analog thermometers I keep in my freezers. I put one sensor in my chest freezer and the other in my kitchen freezer. It says to use lithium AAs if the temp goes under 0°F. Regular AAs have been working just fine for me, and my chest freezer regularly goes down to -5°F.

I have tried at least 4 different fridge/freezer alarms over the past 6 years since our fridge died in the middle of the night and we lost a whole bunch of food that spoiled before we realized that the compressor was no longer working. This is the only sensor/alarm that has not given any false alarms (nothing like being woken up in the middle of the night for a false alarm). It is also the only one that has not had any communication drop-outs.But the biggest positive for me is that you can set each sensor and each base unit on one of 3 frequencies. So, you can have three base units with two sensors each and each of them will be separate and will not interfere. So, you set two sensors and one base to channel A and two more sensors and the second base to channel B and the last two sensors and the third base to channel C. No other sensor/alarm that I have purchased worked this way. All additional sensors and base stations were on the same channel and would interfere with each other. So, if you need to monitor more than one unit (we have a main fridge, a garage fridge and a chest freezer) then you can buy multiple units and monitor up to 6 separate devices. Also, the sensors for the white premium unit (00523M) and the silver premium units (00515M) are interchangeable. The base units are the same, just different colors.

I bought this set for our RV refrigerator. It's a 1992 and sometimes the pilot blows out or it randomly quits working. The temperature monitor is a must to make sure it's working properly.I bought some analog thermometers as well to monitor more than one area. The calibration on this electronic unit is definitely off from the analog thermometers across the range from ambient to freezing. I've calibrated around the 32 degree mark as that's where the operating range of the refrigerator is but when the fridge is off, I can tell it's off by 8-10 degrees F. That's pretty terrible actually and that's why I knocked down the rating from 5 to 4. Everything else about this unit is excellent. The rubber hangers are nice although the suction cup doesn't work in the freezer due to the cold. Calibration is very easy and intiitive. Overall this is exactly what I needed so I'm happy so far.

This is the second one I bought, to give as a gift - since the first one worked so well. I like the fact that it's a simple alarm - no "smartphone app" or some server in China knowing what the temp is inside my fridge. I have a high quality set of HVAC tools and I calibrated this alarm with my (expensive) temperature probe - and it was spot-on accurate. I'm also using alkaline batteries for the sensors and so far they seem to last - it's been a few months already with no issues. If they die soon I'll switch to lithium, but so far I don't see the need.

I've had two of these for a few years now (originally got one for the kitchen fridge, then bought a second unit for the deep freezer.) The pluses and the minuses are below.First, the minuses:The first thing is that this is supposed to be able to stick to your fridge magnetically. But, they cheaped out on the magnets. The magnets in the back are NOT strong enough to hold this device onto the fridge. The motion of the door makes it fall off, and when not falling off, it is gradually sliding down. We added some heavy-duty magnets between it and the fridge to keep it on there. The second thing to know is that the freezer sensor on the first one I bought went bad, after less than 2 years of use. You can't buy replacement sensors, so I ended up buying a whole new unit. I hope that this is a fluke, and the current units last longer. I will update. The pluses: I have a temperamental refrigerator. It came with the house and it still runs so I would rather use it than replace it. But it's very responsive to changes in barometric pressure. Sudden cloudy or rainy days? The refrigerator temps drop and things freeze. An engineer friend explained it to me once but I don't really understand it, I just live with it. I like having the temperature display on the front of the fridge so that if there's a problem, I can see it right away. I also like that this device has a safety alarm if temps get too low or high. The device works for that. The batteries need replacement every 6 months or so.

We wanted to know the temp of our upright freezer without having to open it up. This unit attached to the front of the freezer and it seems to be accurate. It has 2 sensors and I use both in the freezer, in different areas. However, one could be in a refrigerator and the other a freezer if that's what you have and need. I read some other reviews that the magnets were not strong enough to hold the unit on the door, but I have had no issue, it stays where I put it.

I purchased this product after losing the contents of my refrigerator during a hurricane related power outage. This product works well, however, one thing i would like is a longer alarm snooze time. If you put more than one room temperature food item in your refrigerator, it heats up enough to set off the alarm, and my refrigerator takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to come back down under the alarm limit. The snooze function lasts about 5 minutes so its a lot of back and forth. If I had to buy the product again, I might look for one that I could snooze from or monitor from my phone.
