I wasn't sold on these acrylic mats based on word of mouth, but my curiosity got the best of me so I tried this one. And it's great. Just the looks alone made this worth it for me. Now my plain black LP120X has a cool white contrast to it. I won't claim these mats improve the sound, but I DO hear a subtle difference. Though I did also replace my old stylus so it could have just been that. Either way, I love this thing. It looks awesome and static is reduced as well.

Good quality and makes my transparent vinyls look amazing, about the same thickness as my rubber mat too, very happy with it.

In one word: Wow!In more words, read on:For frame of reference, my turntable is the Fluance RT81 which I have had for almost a year along with a Nagaoka MP110 Cartridge. I had been using the standard rubber mat that it came with and it pretty much did the job.Up until a few days ago when this mat came in, the sound of my collection was fine for the most part and I didn't think it could get much better.I'm actually very happy to report that just isn't the case anymore! With the Hudson Acrylic Mat, it was like a leap forward with my music and I was enjoying them all over again, with some albums really benefitting from this change. One problem that my rubber mat ran into was certainly the attraction of static and dust, and try as I might even with a brush I would sometimes be greeted with a TZZTBANGPOP! Not the kind of sound to enjoy when you want to relax with your music. With this acrylic mat that problem has disappeared, and while I'd also gotten better on cleaning my stylus and records, this essentially sealed the coffin on having problems with static and dust/particles.Another great feature that this mat has is the ability to manually check your anti-skate and this essentially saved and elevated the sound of my music. You don't really know how much of a difference it makes until you look to see if you may have miscalibrated your own anti-skate like I did! To put you in perspective, I have two noticeably "problematic" records. One that seemed to play fine but would gradually distort as it continued on. The second played with many audible crackles throughout playback which not even a good cleaning appeared to cure.As soon as I recalibrated my anti-skate with this mat, these issues ceased! It really was like a revelation to experience these records without having something like distortion or crackling holding them back. (In fact, it was listening to the previously crackling record with this new setup that prompted me to write this review!) Not to mention if it helped fixed these issues for these specific records, it certainly helped my collection as a whole! (Though this may also lend to the mat material itself?)With just those two features alone, it's already very good. However, it is with the mat itself that makes it go from very good, to really great. One review I read put it simply that it "cleans up the sound", and I very much agree with that statement.Taking a close listen to my records over these past few days have really opened my eyes (and ears?) to the benefits of an acrylic mat. There were sounds that I just hadn't noticed before right there for me to take in, and I had listened to these records plenty of times. It's kind of like opening the curtains to a window, but instead you throw the curtains out and get a full view. It was like my music finally "just made sense".At this price point, it really is a no-brainer to invest in this mat. Mine came in great shape, and there was no warping at all. It elevated my vinyl experience further, and I am a firm believer in this particular accessory. Hopefully, one day, you will too.

It works! I ran multiple A/B tests and noticed an improvement in sound. It's not a huge night and day difference, but it is noticeable. The white mat looks great on my black platter and make for a great background to let coloured vinyl look good. The spindle on my turntable is on the larger side, so the mat did not initially go on. Hudson quickly got back to me and said that sanding the inner while of the mat for a couple of minutes will fix that. Sure enough it did. If you do need to sand, I recommend washing the mat afterwards to ensure that any remaining particles are washed away.

Excellent build quality. I wasn’t expecting too much of an improvement in sound quality over the original rubber mat supplied with my Technics SL-1200GR but I was wrong. Soon after I played a record on this acrylic mat both myself and my wife immediately noticed how good and deep the bass sounded. The sound it seems has also opened up noticeably. The rubber mat has now gone back into the original turntable box not to be used again. My vinyl collection is sounding excellent now. Very happy with this product.

Less than an hour after receiving and moments into the first track there’s an audible difference over the stock rubber mat. To my ears; better. Of course should you by this product your mileage may vary; I’m pleased to report I’m not hearing any part of the frequency range have more slam or pop. I prefer a flat response and my ears tell me this product hasn’t changed that. I will say the bass is a little more controlled with less muddying into the mid-bass. The midrange esp vocals are still forward per my preference with a little more resolution as far as the instruments are concerned. A bit more separation. The rubber mat maybe had a little darker/warmer/ perhaps even veiled effect on playback. I had; since my platter is cast aluminum been concerned their might be a little treble sibilant and I’m not hearing that. As this is essentially just a machined plastic disc it doesn’t add anything. I get the impression all it’s doing is preventing some adverse harmonics from making its way to the stylus while preventing some muffling from the previous much softer mat. The sound is simply “firmer” in nature while not being hard or cold. I like it. This mat is flat and smooth; glossy really. The area immediately surrounding the spindle is machine out at least twice as deep as the label is thick. I got the white because, well because. I have a few visually stunning translucent LP’s and thought the white might be more pleasant behind the clear, the blue and the red of those colored records versus the blacks or iridescent mats. Besides, my playback set up is already littered with black and no fan of dayglo anything. I may very well replace the cork on my other turntable with another one of these.***A thought after submitting review. This mat doesn’t support the entire circumference of a 12 inch vinyl record. It’s been mentioned in other reviews that the lead in grooves are not supported. I occurred to me while flipping Lilly Hiatt’s “Let Down” this is a calculated design feature and a good one. I’m ham fisted and really have to exercise caution when handling vinyl. There’s no chance of hooking this mat with your finger tips and pull it from the platter. This is actually an issue I have with my cork mat. Having to lower the record back down over the spindle and try and lever the cork mat off of the flip side with your fingertips whole simultaneously holding said record. With smaller, delicate hands this is probably not much of an issue with catchers mitt hands it’s another story entirely. This alone endears this mat to me.So an update; I bought a second for another turntable. The sound of course is the same. I find what this mat does to the sound pleasent. Crisper with out being cold would be an accurate statement.
