Learned on a forum that this part is a regular maintenance part to be cleaned as often as you change your oil on a 6.6l Duramax. This is due to the EPA requiring the truck to Crap in its own mouth. IE venting EGR gasses into the motor...Well when i pulled my sensor out of the 2022 model year truck with 26k miles on it, it was fully clogged with soot. Tried the $10 can of MAF sensor cleaner, didn't get it off. So decided to buy a new one, seeing they are cheap. Who what a difference! With changing it out, this morning my fuel economy increase by 1.0 MPG. No joke! I have a 100 mile round trip drive, and use Cruse Control every morning, so variables are the same other than temp/humidly by minimal amounts.I would recommend ordering one if you have the same truck and swap them out every oil change. I plan on it.Note: if you are trying to clean it, don't use a brush, as you will break the small little sensor....

2021 chevy 3500hd duramax.truck has 20,000 miles on it and this little sensor was caked with soot. thanks to our wonderful government mandated regulations. just disconnect your batteries, one bolt holding in the sensor and swap, reconnect batteries. super easy install. will replace every 20k miles.

P00C7 code and check engine code this morning. This part replace 73k mile original. So, 6k later…this happened.. Pulled code above, removed and gently cleaned with Qtip while holding in installed orientation, to minimize junk getting deeper in the sensor… then in same position, sprayed with MAF spray dripping onto rag until clean. Installed and reset codes.

This is a direct plug and play part did I mention it is OEM? No? Well it is. I couldn’t believe the life that was lying behind the soot covered old one that had been cleaned 1000 times and was just not working properly. It was as if an extra 300 horse’s were woken up under the hood and off to the race’s we went. I’d recommend this product to everybody and their grandma.

This sensor is a common problem for GM Duramax owners especially for L5P equipped trucks. Its location in the Duramax intake system allows it to be contaminated with recycled exhaust buildup and when it get bad enough a P026D check engine code is sent. You can usually tell before this happens by a decrease in fuel economy and performance. I try to check mine every 20000 miles, if the build up is not read bad they can be cleaned with CRC Mass Air flow sensor cleaner. Just in case it can't be cleaned a spare in your toolbox can keep you on the road. One final note, you can remove it without unplugging its connector. If you need to replace it remove the battery cable before unplugging it.
