This is actually a very nice holder. Fits 5/8 tooling perfectly. Nice machined surfaces. Fit on my Grizzly tool post perfectly

I have a FIM's #3 tool post on a Harrison AA 13" swing lathe, which is a pretty rare tool post. I was looking on eBay for tool holders, as I don't have any. None were listed on eBay UK either. A practical machinist member said the AXA would fit the FIM's #3 tool post. I checked the dimensions listed for the AXA, and they are very close to what I made out of wood, so I decided to try it. The Accusize AXA 0250-0102 fits the wedge opposite the locking handle but not the other 2 wedges 90 degrees to the handle. The FIM's #3 tool post has a spanner nut on the face of the wedge, and when it is turned, the wedge moves in and out. Pulling the handle brings the wedge in to lock the tool holder in place. Once I turned the spanner nut CCW a little, I was able to adjust the wedge location, and the AXA tool holder slid right on to all 3 locations. The bottom of the AXA holder needs to be notched to allow it to slide down farther on the wedge. However, the top of the slot in the tool holder is very close to the centerline of the spindle when mounted to the lathe, so the notch does not have to be very deep. Depending on the tool used. There is a stop pin for the height adjustment on the FIM's tool post (see picture). The FIM's use a long set screw that touches off on the stop pin to set the height instead of what the typical tool holders use with the stop on the top of the tool holder. Note: This AXA's outside dimensions are 3"Lx1.5"Hx1"W. If you have a different FIM's numbered tool post, check the dovetail dimensions of the tool holder. It might fit.

Accusize tool holders are a great value. After they receive the black oxide coating the critical dovetail surfaces are ground to near perfection. My small lathe needs all the help it can get to make good quality cuts and Accusize tool holders have become my favorite. The screws that hold the cutting tool are of good quality and don't need to be replaced as those on some cheaper toolholders do. Combined with good cutting tools I am able to hold tolerances well under .001".

I bought a nice Travers Tool AXA tool post kit and needed some extra tool holders. The Aloris brand is the standard, but they are too expensive for a hobbyist. The Accusize are the best quality for the money. This one is oversized in the slot to take up to a 5/8" tool bit. The slot height measures about .650" on mine. It also has the "V" groove for holding a boring bar. The machining is real nice all over. The tapped holes are on size and not super sloppy like cheaper holders. The grind work on the dovetail is top notch. It locks up on the tool post just like my other holders. One thing to consider if you are using this tool holder on a smaller lathe is that it may need to drop down a bit lower in order to keep your tool on centerline. I found the height adjusting screws just a bit to short. I purchased some 3/8"-24 x 2" set screws from ebay to replace the stock ones and it lowers all the way just fine. Very nice product.

Work well but the height nut might get loose even with the spring washer from time to time. Some thread locker will fix it.

I gave this four stars because of the price, but the holders I purchased were manufactured with a dull mill that left a radius in the bottom/rear channel for holding the tool. This prevents tools from properly registering against both the bottom and rear of the holder channel. You can either re-mill it yourself or use a triangular file to remove the radius. But expect secondary operations for a good tool fit.
