Manufactured under carefully controlled conditions allowing for the highest degree of accuracy when used at a temperature of 68 degrees F ( 20 Deg C). Hardened to HRC 64, all gage block sets are made to special standard to resist corrosion and defacement. Each set comes with a fitted wooden case.

  • Yes, the gage block set includes a certificate from the manufacturer. However, for true NIST traceability and to ensure the highest level of accuracy, we recommend having the set calibrated by an accredited laboratory.

  • Grade B refers to compliance with ASME B89.1.9-2002 standards. This grade is ideal for general-purpose shop use, offering reliable performance for a variety of measurement tasks.

  • No, gage blocks are more accurate than calipers. Use the gage blocks to calibrate the caliper instead. For calibrating the gage blocks, a higher-accuracy tool like a micrometer is recommended.

Wood box took a hard hit, before it was shipped to me based on how it was taped together prior to going into the amazon packaging. Box not perfect but ok. All blocks were serialized correctly vs the included chart. Each individually wrapped with corrosive inhibitor. I've measured maybe 50% with descent shop grade (Mitutoyo) indicators and they do seem correct. They also wring together well, including the larger inch plus sizes. Can you imagine the boredom of putting these kits together...

Ok for my needs. The latches on the wooden box needed some attention to get them to latch correctly. Other than the .1001-.1009 they all measured out to what they are supposed to be. Update: After using a better quality micrometer than I originally used to verify sizes the .1001-.1009 checked out true to size.

I'm a machinist by trade and I bought this set for my tool box at work. It's a decent set to have on the shop floor for gauging parts and setting gauges. The box seems to be decent quality and the fit and finish of the blocks is good and the set comes with a calibration cert. They wring together fairly easily, the one complaint I have is the markings on the blocks could be a bit deeper. As they are they're a bit on the faint side and I could see them becoming illegible after heavy use. Overall a good buy.

If you are looking for a good quality master set for a clean inspection area, go with a higher precision grade. However, these make a great set for everyday shop use. If absolute precision is not necessary and they will be exposed to the workshop environment, an inexpensive set like this is just the ticket.Negative: They do not all wring together well, and certified dimensions on some did vary a bit farther than I would like from the nominal size.Positive: Inexpensive and comes with a certification displaying actual measurements of blocks. For a shop environment, I would highly recommend. For a master set in a clean environment, get a better set.

Ok, after reading some other reviews I was a little skeptical of these gage blocks. Since machining is just a hobby I decided to give them a try because of the price. The wooden box isn't a fine woodworking piece (I am a cabinet builder by trade) but arrived intact and seems well built and will certainly work for me. It did take me a couple hours to unwrap and clean all 81 blocks with alcohol, I watched youtube videos while doing this. After cleaning the blocks I wrung several sets together and measured with a micrometer and the measurements were mostly dead on. I did get a couple stacks of 6-8 blocks that came 0.0001 over, could be my micrometers calibration or my hand heating it up. Close enough for my hobby use.

The blocks came wrapped in thin wax paper and coated in cosmoline or some other rust inhibiting substance (the blocks are made of steel - thus required). The "business ends" are polished to a mirror-like finish. The blocks wring together tightly. I have checked a few and they seem accurate enough for my needs. I've compared my results against the laminated spec sheet, of the ones I've checked... the serial numbers match up and the measurements seem to be accurate. Workshop grade gauge blocks should be accurate to 50 millionths of an inch, matching the accuracy of a quality micrometer. Overall, I'm satisfied! Would buy again.

Very nice gauge block set for shop-floor ,it was a concern for the surface finish(read some reviews) but was like a mirror finish ,inspected each block and all within spec.
