  • 5mm steel bars made of special hardened steel
  • Soft-touch Coating on the bars and matching silicone lock body cover protects bike's paint job
  • Two keys supplied with the lock
  • Abu's Plus cylinder offers a high degree of protection against picking

When you're locking up your bike you're likely walking away with a bit of peace of mind, knowing your trusty steed will stay secure when you're gone, but with the Abus Bordo Alarm 6000 Key Folding Lock you can amplify that security, quite literally, to 100-deicbals. This foldable lock packs in an alarm system that reacts to major hits or tugs, alerting you and passers by that your bike is being tampered with, and potentially scaring away thieves. The lock itself uses 5-millimeter hardened steel, with reinforced joints to hold up in areas where there's a medium risk of theft. An ABUS Plus cyllinder at the lock head holds up against manipulations and picking, and hosts the internal intelligent alarm. The intelligent alarm functions on a basis of the ABUS 3D detection system, this means that every movement is detected, and unusual, harsh movements trigger an audible response. Smaller, short movements, like your bike being tapped by a ball, or a light bump from your fellow commuter locking up their bike, will give a short warning tone, while major jostles result in the alarm blaring at its full potential. Different acoustic signals from the lock inform you of battery life, activation, and the alarm status, so you can always keep it powered and ready to go.

Finally got the holder attached to my bike. The instructions that are included with the product are just impossible to understand. Fortunately, there was a video online that is very easy to understand. The product looks and feels durable and solid. I really like the alarm feature, I need this when I am out at a café or running an errand, I’m usually not that far from my bike, so I will hear the alarm more than likely. I’m using this on my electric bike, it’s a bit heavy, I’m not sure that I would’ve used it with my very lightweight road bike. The way that the holder attaches to the bike seems a little bit flimsy. I’ll see if there are problems down the road. It’s held on with a single plastic strap. Doesn’t seem consistent with the overall high-quality materials of the lock itself. But if it holds, I’ll be happy.

I use the Abus lock in conjunction with two cables. I lock the Abus lock through the rear wheel and frame and to a solid object. I wrap one cable through the front wheel and wrap one around the seat bottom and slide them both over the Abus bar before I insert and lock. I really like the alarm function as it draws attention. I have had the alarm beep a few times as someone bumped my bike and they backed off pretty quickly. I mounted mine on the bottle holder mounts and it is out of the way and accessible.

A very sound lock and it stows away very secure into the mounting bracket, supplied with the lock.

This is the second one for my bike. Ask me how I know they work! A neighbor in the building was moving out and “mistakenly” took my bike with this lock on it. According to other neighbors they thought it was their family’s bike and attempted to defeat the lock but couldn’t. So they came back the next day with heavy tools and destroyed a patch of concrete while trying to get the lock off. They did succeed but they had the advantage of being in a small enclosed courtyard where neighbors weren’t suspicious of theft and allowed them the time and space to work on the lock. After it came to light that they took the bike, I was informed by the property manager that they had disposed of the bike and would pay for it and the lock - until I produced receipts to show the actual value of the bike and the cost to replace the Abus - not cheap! The bike magically reappeared. They brought it back with an attitude and eventually wrote a check for the lock.Side note, because of the Abus lock, my bike has survived almost 6 years while street thieves have stolen a dozen other bikes from the building in that time. I won’t have a bike without an Abus Bordo. Period.

I feel like the alarm is a bit too loud but obviously, it's that way for a reason. The only annoying thing is sometimes if the key isn't inserted properly then it becomes hard to readjust and get the lock opened. So if the alarm is on then this could create some issues. So personally for me I don't use the alarm often. I've only used it once or twice. Apart from that, the lock is a good size and I don't really have any issue with regard to being able to lock it up to different objects. The instructions for attaching the lock and it's holder to the frame were a bit confusing as well

Use this in conjunction with other locks (chain to a floor anchor). Well made and no issues with it so far. No idea how effective it is as it hasn’t been forced. Alarm is a good addition as a further deterrent although not the loudest is loud enough to draw attention and not be too embarrassing or annoying if it goes off accidentally

I have the 90 but it also comes in a 120 length which is heavier but allows locking to larger items. I use this lock in conjunction with an Abus U lock. I generally U Lock the eBike frame to the rack and then thread this alarmed lock through a tire and frame. Its perfect, will give a loud warning chirp if the bike is touched or bumped. The alarm, if disturbed is piercing and loud. (Like don't test it in the house). Read the instructions and practice with it before you are out & about trying to use it. Once you figure out the ins and outs it works great, easy to set up and stow away. Has a nice rubberized coating for grip and weather resistance and it won't scratch your bike frame. I carry it in my rear bag but it comes with a nice holder if you wanted to mount it to bottle cage points or strap to a rack somewhere. You need to watch some videos like the 'lock picking lawyer' to see how thieves cut locks with angle grinders in seconds. It's more common than you think. They will cut any lock out there given enough time and the right tools. In a big city where you have to lock your bike in an unattended area overnight, no way will this be your only lock. Its easily cuttable with an angle grinder. But for quick trips in the store, locking in your secure garage, rural areas with low bike theft etc. this could be your main and possibly only lock. Look at the graphs (kryptonite has some good ones) showing your location (urban city vs rural setting) and type of trip (quick stop, stop within sight of bike, bike out all day, bike out all night) to determine how many locks you need and what style. This lock won't be picked easily and if they are going to cut it it is going to make a whole hell lotta noise on the way. Hoping that causes the criminals to pick another target. Thats all you can do.

I was looking for a longer one but this is the longest they have. It stays on the bike well. The other complaint I have is that upon using the key to unhook the end from the lock as I'm about to lock up my bike, it is difficult to pull the end out. I don't know if I need to oil it or what. The alarm seems to work ok, I think. I haven't tried to activate it but when I move my bike, it does beep as a warning. I really wanted to lock both my front wheel (quick release) and the frame to the bike rack, but again it's too short.
