This paper pieced elephant is so cool. I have not started it yet but will be getting out to collect my fabric colours I will need so I can get it going. You do have to get copies of the templates you will be using as the ones they send are back to back printed n so you won’t use them by accident. This way you can get more copies and make another if you want. There are video tutorials out there which is nice. The instructions look quite clear to me. Will see when I get going on it.

This was my first paper peacing project and the pattern was precise and it turned out great. I did have to go to staples to get the pattern printed on ledger sized paper with cost about $18 but I used the method that you don't actually sew through the paper. I saw it on utub and it worked great so I will be able to use it again in the future so I liked that. Over all I am very happy with this pattern.

This is an amazing pattern but it has a ton of small pieces. It also seems to have a lot of scrap if your not careful. I love the finished product and I did add a few borders to make it larger. I would definitely make another Violet Craft pattern. 💜

It’s such a great pattern however there is something I feel I should warn you about. There are 17 double sided 11”x17” pages in this pattern. So to make a single sided copy at Staples that’s 34 pages x $0.30/page and it ends up being $10 just for one copy.I feel that the creator could have made it more user friendly by providing single sided copy to begin with or perhaps formatted it down to standard size copy paper. This way I can’t trace it with a light box and I don’t own printer capable of producing 11x17 size copies. 👎🏻But I gave them 5 stars because they managed to create such a beautiful and intricate pattern. Not only that but the way it’s laid out for you so clearly I feel that even if you are a novice you’d be able to tackle this project and have a blast.

While the pattern does come double sided on odd size paper. I was able to get it copied and reprinted single paper on 11X17 size. I was so nervous to start this project as I had never done a paper pieced quilt before. Honestly once I got into it, I couldn't stop sewing. I custom created the back of the quilt and left it at a larger size using leftover fabric from the front to make the border. All in all this took me maybe 2 weeks to complete!! To quilt the whole thing together I simply freehand stitched around the elephants on the back fabric. This turned out so perfectly I would totally make it again!

This pattern is so much fun! I'm not quite finished with mine (got a few more toes to go), but I love it. The only negative about the pattern is that you have to make copies of the original paper templates -- and they are printed on large paper (11x17?) and not too many people have home copiers that can do that, so you have to pay a copy shop to do it. That does add an extra cost to the project.
