I discover that I needed to use this product to be able to paint watercolor on a canvas like if it was acrylics paint. So I tried this brand and I love it, it works so well!

It's supposed to make painting on canvas more like painting on paper but I'm just not sure about this stuff. I'm going to keep experimenting with it.

A great medium to work with, one of my favorites. Gives the look of a fresco.

This is great for watercolor on surfaces that wouldn't normally work well. Two thin coats are all that's needed. However, it is extremely absorbent, so wet-on-wet techniques don't really work, nor does anything that requires that the paint be free to flow or spread. It's not exactly like working on watercolor paper. Like any medium, it takes some experimentation and practice. Fortunately, unlike paper, it can be rinsed completely clean and started over on.

With a plywood substrate, I applied 4 coats over 2 coats of Golden Gesso base coat 4 layers covers approx 1m2 for the 8oz pot. I’ve brushed ink on and it really beads up, doesn’t absorb at all. The surface is very slow, dragging on the brush. Not sure why so many people think this is absorbent.

This is a fun product. I painted it over a gesso base on wood panel, 2 layers of Absorbent Ground (also recommended) , dried overnight. Next day put down a good layer of water on top and painted with Golden fluid acrylics to achieve a really nice flow between colors, quite like watercolor but better in my opinion because I do not need to put glass on top of the finished work when done.

I needed this for my art projects on canvas. Gesso is a great product but I was looking for something that would act a little more like a paper when using water color.Gesso tends to bead rather than soak in the color, with this I can now have a canvas that absorbs and looks like water color on paper. I have to say that's a pretty cool deal. I can not find this in my local craft store so I was very pleased to see it here on Amazon.

This was my first time using this product which was recommended by an instructor. The ground was applied with a sponge brush on the hardboard cover of a watercolor journal. Allowed to dry for approx. 30 minutes and a second coat added. I then painted with watercolor paint over the ground to illustrate the subject matter. I was very pleased with how the ground medium provided a bit of texture and also provided a workable base for the watercolors without any smearing, bleeding, or run-off. I was happy with how the painting turned out and had the option of wiping any mistakes off or making adjustments. To protect the finished painting I sprayed two coats of a Matte Fixative to seal against water damage and handling. I'm very happy with the versatility of this product.

Great product to use on canvas, so that it can be used for watercolors or even acrylics with watercolor effects. It is long-lasting, you can apply on the canvas as it is but you can reduce the tickness with some water too.
