Abatron LiquidWood and WoodEpox are the gold standard for wood repair. I have used these products for many years and the quality and convenience justifies the premium price. The key to repairs is using the LiquidWood as an adhesive base for the WoodEpox for large repairs. Cure time is temperature dependent. The curing process can be accelerated with a heating gun. I typically get set times in less than two hours and final curing in a few days. Drilling, sanding, and painting properties are excellent. Cleans up easily with isopropyl alcohol or acetone. Worth every penny!!

Very satisfied. Repaired wood window sills that had holes at corners. This product is amazing and dries totally hard and is easily worked and sanded once hardened. Also takes paint easily. Once repaired and painted the sills look like new. Highly recommended. I used their liquid wood kit epoxy to do the prep first which made the wood firm and once hardened used this to fill it back to the original shape.I was at a loss as to what to do in these circumstances until I found this and watched the video.

I had a rotten out bottom portion of a window seal in the inside cause by years of water condensation from the glass. It was a pretty large area of decay. First I removed all of the rotten wood with a knife. Then I used the Liquid Wood Epoxy to strengthen the remaining wood and to create a seal. Once I brushed on the Liquid Wood epoxy, wearing rubber gloves, I mixed equal portions of the WoodEpox putty together in my hands, each about the size of a golf ball, and worked the putty in section by section until the cavity was completely filled. There were indentions in the placed putty from working it with my fingers. I used rubbing alcohol to smooth out the indentions in the putty by dipping my fingers in the alcohol and smoothing, also used the plastic putty knife that came with the kit, but smoothing with alcohol dipped fingers seemed to work better. Once I was satisfied with the cavity filling, I let it dry for 24 hours, then I used my electric sander to sand it and further smooth it out. I then painted it, and it now looks as good as new. The putty is expensive, but I found it to be worth every penny, and am 100% completely satisfied with the results. I highly recommend Liquid Wood Epox and WoodEpox putty for these type of repairs.

It's pretty easy to work with and seems like it's pretty durable. It's a lot harder than the cedar we're using it on, so if the wood moves a fair bit, depending on the size/shape/etc. of the patch, it may pop out - but that's in a more extreme case.Priming with LiquidWood (B009WCL092) is important. Don't try putting this on paint either.

There is not one wood repair product that takes care of everything. You need several and this is one of them. I have an old Victorian that always needs one repair or another and I will often use a combination of items during a repair. Shutters, rails, siding, etc. This stuff is super light and you mix equal quantities of each part to a silly putty consistency. It works great for stuffing it into rotted holes - just pull off a chunk and work it with your fingers into the hole. I have also repaired a number of columns that had rot and after working it with a chisel and wood tools, you would never be able to find the repair. I will say that all of my repairs with this are prefaced with other products. Its like the "how many rocks will fit in this jar" challenge but in reverse. I will start with a watery wood hardener (like minwax) to stabilize the fibers then coat it with PC Woody liquid epoxy (great stuff for a variety of challenges - has always hardended for me with no stickiness after) and then for large voids I will follow up with this. For voids that might not be that large, the Minwax hi-performance wood filler will do the trick BUT you only have 10 minutes to use it - not 11. Find an old piece of scrap and do your homework before tackling the important stuff. This stuff has a good 20 or 30 minutes of working time. I do wish it cost a little less but it also has great shelf life if sealed properly (up to 2 years by my experience).

Several years ago, I looked for a reliable wood replacement compound for various DIY projects. My main requirements were durability and resistance to cracking, as previous products I had used did not meet my expectations. After reading about this product in a news article, I decided to try it. Most lumber yards didn't carry it, but I eventually found one that did. Unfortunately, they only sold it in large canisters, which were quite expensive. Fortunately, the compound has proven to be an excellent choice. I have used it extensively for both indoor and outdoor DIY projects, and it has consistently delivered satisfactory results without any failures. After many years of use, I emptied the containers. I was pleased that the two containers I ordered from Amazon were smaller and more affordable. To prevent the expensive ingredients in the containers from drying out, remember that air is your enemy. Here are a few recommendations:1. Take what you need from each container and IMMEDIATELY place the lids back on the two containers.2. I always try to burp out as much air as I can before a final seal of the lid.3. Ensure that the lids are tightly in place. I gently thump them with my rubber mallet. With a minimal amount of effort, you can significantly increase the shelf life of this product.Remember that this wood epoxy requires mixing equal amounts of resin from one container and hardener from another. It’s easy to accidentally take too much, which could result in discarded material and wasted money.Follow the manufacturer's safety and usage directions carefully. The two compounds must be kneaded thoroughly. After it hardens, I gently sand and paint over it.

I had some very serious problems with wood rot on the outside of the upper level on my garage. I removed the first outer layer of completely rotten wood and I was left with large area's behind the removed area's which still had significant rot. Like a dentist I removed all the decay with a Dremel tool from the second layer until all that was left was intact wood. It was not pretty but the Abatron WoodEpox Wood Replacement Compound was exactly the product for this job. I treated the now exposed open area's of the second layer with a liquid wood hardener first and then mixed this product and filled the large open area's to the size and shape of the original wood lumber. I then replaced the first layer with new pressure treated lumber over the epoxied area's. There were some open gaps where I removed some rot on the out layer which this produce was very effective. When dried it was supper easy to sand and shape and it accepted screws just like new wood. What I though could have been a re-build situation is now a great repair because of this product. Just have to get out to stain the repairs now. When I purchased the product I was surprised how light the box was. When I opened it there were two separate plastic containers and I thought they had dried up because I was expecting a heavy moist product. These were very light. This product has the consistency of bread dough. I took a handful from each container and put it on a piece of plywood. One is bright white and the other is beige. With rubber gloves I just mixed the two together in my hands like kneeding bread dough until the entire mixture was all beige. Then I just started filling the holes with my fingers and thumbs and packing the mixture into the holes. I used blocks of wood to press the epoxy into the shape of the dimensional lumber this it was replacing. Everything you see in the pictures took two orders or 4 quarts. This is a great product and I will be purchasing it again. Worth every penny and more for me.

Abatron wood filler is a 2 part mix that has the consistency of clay so it does not run, and has a 30 min working time so rushing to finish is not required. Occasionally find a spot of wood rot on my house; just scrape or pick away the soggy wood, let it dry, paint the exposed wood with a wood harder which does exactly that. Then replace the removed wood with the Abatron wood putty. Can be smoothed with a putty knife and Isopropyl Alcohol to avoid any resistance. And also for cleanup. Wait 24 hours, scuff a little with sandpaper, and paint. Will look Great, and saves a ton of money and time. Before Abatron, I used a product typically used for repairing dents in cars which rhymes with Mondo. This product worked pretty well, but sets up pretty fast so found myself making several small batches to work with before hardening; so is more messy, and added more time to complete repairs. Abatron Wood Filler is the GOAT for me at this point.

Very easy to use, not too messy (unlike the Ronseal equivalent), remains usable for up to an hour (unlike the Ronseal equivalent)and has now set rock solid. Primer paint has applied well, and 18th century windowsills with wood rot repaired beautifully as a result. Delighted!
