The abalone sheets look just like the pictures and are very beautiful. This was the first time I used this kind of product, and it was very tedious to cut into specific shapes needed, and very brittle. I was sprucing up my acoustic guitar to have an abalone trim around edge. Happy with the look and results of abalone sheet material. The only thing is the sheet should be about 3 to 4 times as thick, because it is so fragile and brittle to work with. In all fairness though, there's a learning curve to using certain media, materials. I would suggest for someone who is doing an art project, to count on spending a lot of time and going very slow and careful. Also whatever you have determined for the amount you need, I would recommend getting 2 to 3 times the amount you've estimate you need. This will give you some cushion and room for error, as well as getting use to the material. I cut my shapes with ordinary scissors. Hard to get a clean edge. Be aware that the slightest pressure will make product break off in smaller pieces, or flake. I did like product though, and intend to order some more to finish project. Thanks to Ocean brand for making this available.

Damaged inconsistent thickness made it impossible to laser cut.

After some trial and error, I was able to use this product as an accent on an Acoustic Guitar bridge for my latest guitar build. It is a bit tricky to work with as you might expect with thin shell.I wound up using the thin MDF the product ships with as a backer. I cut the MDF to the desired shape then super glued the product to it. I was then able to sand the shell to shape.Clear epoxy resin was used as a finish. Was happy with the results.

A unique and quality product. Easy to apply (although you should use care as this is genuine shell so is fragile). I get so many compliments!

This is a thin brittle polymer or resin sheet and not real shell slices. With flame it fully melts. If it was real shell, the resin coating/ backing would melt, but not the shell. The sheets crack easily when you try to cut them. That makes using them difficult. Waste of money and falsly listed.

The veneer cuts great, I used my 20w laser with extraction and had no issues, decarbonizing the edge didnt crack any of the inlays so it’s pretty tough. Plenty thick, color is spot on to the listing. I am not sure it’s real abalone, but I also really don’t care so be aware of that.

I’m happy about the price and color quality. Something I found odd was that the adhesive was not actually attached to the veneer, but I don’t know if that matters for my application, I find the adhesive kind of annoying so I’ll try it without the backing to see. I use this for inlay on jewelry, so I typically take chunks and lay it in resin. I’m unsure on how well it will cut without the backing. Because the shell is well, shell, it ships pretty easy when pressure is applied.
