This kit does what it says – 40 tests: 10 each K P, N and pH. However, you must do K & P each time you want to do only one of those tests, as they both consume two tablets of Pre-Detection Reagent 1. If you only test for K or P, then you will be able to do only five tests. This cost 1 star. Also, the names of reagents on the SOIL TEST KITS Instructions does not agree with the names on the Reagent tablets blister packs. Instructions say Reagent 1 or Reagent 2 or Reagent 3 (Arabic numerals) but the blister packs are ink-jetted with the test letter followed by a Roman numeral: KI, KII and III (III is presumably for Potassium). This confusion costs 1 star.

I ordered this to get my garden up to where it needed to be. I used to blindly throw 10-10-10 on it and maybe some lime, but now I know exactly what the soil needs. (Turns out lots of lime - soil was 4.0 pH which is very acidic). It took me a minute to figure out that this is a multi-step process because the instructions at first looked like you tested from the first step. However, you have two big vials where you start and everything is tested from those two. For Phosphorus and Potassium there is another step that you take out of the bigger vial.It is nice to know exactly what my soil is like and there are enough strips and tabs to test it at least 10 times.Overall, nice little kit for understanding what is wrong with your soil and it is fairly easy to use. You can pack everything back up inside the box until the next test.

This soil test kit was exactly what I needed to check on my garden’s health. I was a little worried about accuracy, but the results have been consistent and easy to read. The kit comes with everything needed for multiple tests, and the instructions make it simple to use, even for beginners. I love that it checks pH, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium all in one, giving a full picture of what my plants need. Plus, with 40 tests included, it’s a great value for everything it covers. Definitely a great tool for any gardener!

We have just added a greenhouse area on the side of our porch and are in our third year of making our own compost from house scraps. This testing kit allows us to test our compost to ensure it has the various elements that our garden needs. In our case, it was valuable info since our compost is low on some necessary components and the garden will need more fertilizer than we expected. The instructions were adequate, our novice level understanding had us working slowly and re-reading. The kit contained everything we needed and we learned a lot. The equipment was clearly marked and we had everything we needed except for an eyedropper, which I think we misplaced. The box is a decent cardboard, which I mention because the kit has up to 40 uses, so we’ll be storing it against future need. All in all, this is a great kit. It has everything you need, good instructions and quality, reusable components. We are impressed.

The kit is functional but far from user-friendly. Each test type has its own procedure, making the process feel unnecessarily complicated. The instructions add to the frustration, referring to components with names that don’t match any labeling on the items themselves. You’re left guessing what goes where. The packaging quality is also questionable—several of the nitrogen and phosphorus test strips were damaged, with pads falling off inside the bottle. It’s clear that some of the parts are repurposed from unrelated medical or lab supplies, which makes the kit feel a bit cobbled together. On the positive side, the tests do appear to be accurate. I compared the results with a calibrated test kit from a different brand, and they matched closely. Still, accuracy alone doesn’t make up for the frustrating experience of using the kit.

This is my first time using a soil test kit. I got this to check on the nitrogen levels of my basil plant and lemon tree to make sure I'm feeding them properly. Both are potted separately outdoors in regular potting soil and I give them plant food every few weeks. They both look pretty healthy but I wasn't sure if the basil plant was getting enough nitrogen because it was pretty pale before I moved it outdoors. It looks much greener now. Fwiw I'm no plant/soil expert. I'm just learning as I go.I did not have a control test to compare my results. It's a good quality kit because all the vials and accessories look well made and are clearly marked. The instructions are easy to follow and pretty thorough. Everything worked as expected and the results were clear. I think it's tough to mess it up as long as you pay attention to the directions. You will need some common household stuff:- Some plastic wrap (or I used parchment paper) for the soil sample. This was recommended but is probably optional. Anything will work as long as you can get your dirt semi dry.- Sieve for sifting soil- Cup of water (I used filtered)- TimerOther notes:- I ground up my samples and sifted it and still had some floating sediment. I probably could've done a better job, but I don't think it affected the results.- The reagents are labeled as KI and KII for the potassium+phosphorus tests, and III for the pH+nitrogen tests (see photo). They're referred to as reagent 1, 2, and 3 respectively in the instructions.- The kit comes with enough vials to run all of the tests at once. You don't need to reuse any equipment until you test another sample.- It helps to read through all the instructions before starting.I was excited to use this and happy with the process and results. All in all it took around 10–15 mins with cleanup. Most of the time spent is waiting for the soil to settle for the pH/nitrogen test so you can take a reading. I didn't sit and watch it the whole time. Since it comes with so many tests, I don't think I'll need to get another one for a while. I plan on checking every six months or so. Overall very pleased. Totally worth it. 10/10
