I was a veterinary dental technician many moons ago. I had never tried this type of forceps, but since it had good reviews, I bought it for my miniature schnauzers. WRONG, their mouths are too small and they fight it. If they were sedated, I am sure they would work great, but that is not an option. I went back and purchased the same kind I used when I was working.

I bought this to remove plaque from my dogs' teeth.We use similar ones at the vet clinic where I work. These aren't near as quality.They aren't as heavy as the ones we use at the clinic.My biggest complaint is that the edges are supposed to be rounded- these have almost square edging and are sharp. It poked my dog in the gum and made her bleed.Lastly, these don't open as far as the ones we use. In the last picture you can see how little they open.You get what you pay for though.

The plaque came right off of my dogs teeth!
