I use these envelopes to send a saddle-stitch bound 8.5x11" newsletter (~30 pages long on average) twice a year. Before them, all I could find were envelopes with gummed seals that needed to be moistened before sealing. These are so much easier to pack for shipping - granted I only send a couple dozen of these at a time. The side loading and unloading is also convenient and important - only considered ones with the opening on the long side. The paper is thicker than normal printer paper, but not as thick as cardstock so the envelope can be still bent; however, it does not rip or tear easily.

I use these to give to clients to use to mail out their tax returns if more than a few pages, or for certified mailings - has lots of space for the green postage card, etc. Reasonable price, nice! I like the side flap format for these - I can paperclip returns between flap & envelope front on left side so they can see the amounts, "sign here" flag, etc on right side of returns.
