This drum can be used to simulate ocean waves or rain if it is tilted or rotated slowly. The volume is surprisingly loud. The wood material is nice, and the banding ensures that one will maintain a secure grip on it.I have concerns about the durability of the clear head material, however. One will want to be careful not to set this on anything sharp (like other percussion instruments), and not to place anything on top of it.For the price its a nice addition to an alt percussion setup, and it has a unique and relaxing sound. The effect might be more realistic with a larger version (more room for the beads to move around, without coming up against the opposite edge in an abrupt fashion.)
