I bought this set to clean flower seeds and the finest mesh was the filter I needed the most for tiny seeds and it broke the first time I tried to use it! I barely put any pressure on it at all and the screen detached from the sides causing me to lose most of the seeds I harvested. Returning things is such a hassle so I’m going to see if I can repair it but I’m still annoyed it broke so quickly. I haven’t used the other pieces yet to see if they also are not sturdy but I can’t imagine anyone using this for mining stones since it broke while I just put tiny seeds on it to wash in the sink. If it can’t handle seeds that weigh next to nothing it certainly can’t handle stones. So just beware of this if you are looking to purchase this item.

Bought these to sift mustard seeds from dried pods - they seem to be just the wrong size. They might work for other seed sifting purposes, but so far haven't suited anything I grew. Everything is sturdy, and the interchangeability is easy, so the product does seem to be well made, I just wish the sizes of the mesh openings were calibrated to seed sifting.

Perfect for small mealworm farm for separating the eggs, debris, larva, & pupae. Since I’m only using the screens for dry use, I can’t attest to whether it’ll rust, but for my purposes it’s easy to shake & wipe clean. Love how the screens all fit in a single frame for compact storage when not in use. Nice looking set. Mine has had no issues w/ any unraveling wire at the edges & seems well made for sifting mealworms. I’d think this would be a nice set for anyone sifting anything dry that’s not too heavy (small amts of potting soil or sand, course homemade flours, & any number of things).

The pan itself is sturdy and interchangeable fairly easy. For those who se this for baking it is great tool. I got it to select through my eggs and larvae for my mealworms. I don't think it would be very good for separating compost or mulch. It's too small (8 inches) and too flimsy. I can use it for cleaning up bagged potting mix. Much easier that trying to crush every dried clump by hand!I found that the 2 smaller screen sizes are GREAT for cleaning up last year's small seeds. Tape 2 pieces of printer paper on the long side. (That will give you about 15" to work with.) Rub the seed pods in your hands to break them up and free up the seeds. After shaking the seeds out, you may need a small funnel to pour the seeds into you envelope or baggie. I use 3X5" zip-lock bags from Amazon. Using a fine-tip Sharpie, note what seeds they are and the date (2018, etc) . Planting instructions can be slipped inside the bag.

I use these for processing seeds from my garden. I have friends that ask to borrow them for the same thing! Very handy and love the different sizes of screens to sort seeds faster and efficiently.

I bought this to use for sifting the dirt I brought home from the Diamond Mine in Arkansas. It works great for what I needed it for. The multiple screens are easy to switch between. The screens are all different sizes so you can sift for anything big to anything down to the size of a millimeter. Very compact and all the screens can be placed inside all at once for storage. I made the mistake of not drying a screen after using it once and there is a couple of little rust spots, so I definitely suggest drying them off after every use, even though the spots were easy to clean and remove rust.
