I bought this for a water heater installation where the previous duct work was shoddy and certainly not up to code. That means that it will be used with rigid duct, instead of the flexible duct that it was designed for; more on that later.First of all, this thing is far more heavy duty than I would have expected for anything duct related, which I appreciate. Initially I thought I was overpaying due to the fact that it's not a piece easily found in stores, but after feeling the build quality, I would say the price is fair, if a bit on the high side of fair.As mentioned before, this is for flex duct, and thus adapting it to rigid duct wasn't perfect, but I was able to make it work. You're not going to get the crimped end of an 8" duct to fit into this, even if you crimp it more yourself (believe me, I tried.) However, if you flare the duct out a bit instead, you can get it to slide over this piece, and then attach it with screws and flue tape, which is what I'm doing for my install. Because the tolerances are so close, the fitment is very snug, which I found to be beneficial in lieu of a standard install where this would be the female piece.Overall, highly recommend for flex duct applications, and even rigid duct, if you're willing to work around the size limitations.

Nice part, drawn so no seam. Fits perfectly inside 8” duct, close enough to seal with silicone.
