I have bent wires around many things in the past to try to get them to look like a professional has installed them, but this makes easy work of that and is such a great idea. Takes up no room in your toolbox, pick one up if you do this kind of work.

This is promoted as saying it is designed for tight spaces. Maybe I misunderstood, but tight spaces do not allow for the space requirements of a 1/2" Ratchet Wrench. It is a great idea for making a Shepards hook in wire to wrap around a screw on a device, but this is too big for that. If this manufacturer would make a much smaller tool to work with 8 AWG to 18 AWG this would be way more useful. At this point I wlll continue to use the hole in my wire strippers to make my wire bends.

I'm a licensed master electrician and professional electrical engineer. I've made up thousands of connections and many, many hundreds have been large conductors that can be problematic to form into place. What you NEVER want to do is allow the conductors to put stress on lugs. I've tried all kinds of methodologies to form wire with mixed results. I've never considered anything like this tool, which seems like an obvious solution now that I've used it.In the last two weeks, I've had opportunity to use this several times. One job was landing 4/0 copper THHN into a main switchboard. They were 4 parallel feeds into each lug block. Everything really needed to nest perfectly, which was going to be a problem. This tool is so simple and so utterly effective. It made quick work of the aforementioned project without causing any insulation damage or forcing the strands to spread out. It forced and formed the conductors exactly how I wanted them and the shape stayed in place. Then landing the lugs was simple. Amazing actually!I love this little tool. It is so simple and well made. No moving parts and very robust. If you are a professional tradesman, you know that this is a common issue and are overtly familiar with what I'm talking about in this review. It worked better bending 4/0 aluminum wire than other methods I've used, but it wasn't easy by itself. I could have used 3 hands: 1 controlling the bending tool, 1 operating the socket wrench, and a 3rd to hold the supply side of the wire to make the job easier. Instead, I clamped the supply end of the wire in a vise so I could focus on the wrench and bending tool; that was an improvement. One person could probably bend large cables by standing on the supply end, or clamping in a Workmate table's conduit groove. A journey or master electrician probably knows a trick or two that would make this a great tool for them. Still, better than the alternatives.

This cable bender tool can handle 500 mcm cable? Not sure what that means so looked for a translation to diameter which is in the 3/4" ballpark. That's enough to handle residential and most commercial breaker box/panel wiring jobs. I like that it can fit into tight spaces and is useful under the hood and trunk when installing low voltage high current cables for sound systems.

I toyed with it in order to see how well it works. Works great. The wire I practiced with was a short length of excess 10 AWG 3-wire direct burial (UF) cable.Other uses besides bending cable are sure to emerge.
