Well, it's glass so of course it's heavy! But just be aware of that when you plan where to put it. I was hoping to use it on an off-center floor lamp. While it works there and looks good I think there's too much of a danger of tipping over so I'm going to put it in kitchen instead. Each glass pattern is unique so it might be a challenge to order a pair (or more) that would work together/ The edges are smoother and the glass is thick enough. Also, it was packed very well so it arrived in one piece. It throws the light quite well but, at only a little over 4 inches deep, a standard light bulb sticks out the bottom. Better to use a shorter bulb.
