The motors we use in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) are all 6mm shafts, and are common in many applications. I found the hex head of these shafts fits about right with larger offroad R/C tires we have as a potential terrain-grabbing tire solution on our robot. Our motor shafts are "D" shafts, meaning one side is flat (see photo), which works well with the M4 tapped set screws included in the kit. There's also an M4 tapped screw at the hex cylinder end - you can see in my photo that will hold the wheel onto the hex brass coupler. Well made and something I would recommend if it fits your application!

I like the workmanship and quality of these couplers. I've been using these to spin a cathod in a electroplating tank. They work perfectly for this purpose but of course a flex shaft it what they shine at.
