Good starter kit for getting into crab snaring but needs a few modifications. I took these crab snares to the Oregon coast to test them out with my other gear. I have been using crab snares for years on the Oregon coast so I am familiar with many different styles of snares. These cages are well made and the supplied crab gauge has the correct measurements for keeping male dungeness crab in Oregon. On arrival the snare loops looked great and they all sat upright like they should. Upon using the device the snare loops are far too close together and the snare loops are not cinched down to the cage tight enough so they flop back and forth and they all get tangled up on each other. On the day I was testing these out I used other snares and was catching crab consistently and with this snare I did catch a crab but when I reeled the crab closer to shore you could see it was tangled in the loops and the snare loops could not cinch tight enough and the crab slipped out. I cut all the snare loops off and made my own loops and these cages are still working good.

These 6 loop crab traps snares are decent. The bait cage is built sturdy with an attached rubber band type strap with clip to keep it closed. The snare loops are coated well and slid smoothly which should make them work effectively. They do come with a 7th coated wire on one end which I assume they want you to attach the included pyramid sinker to BUT I don't like that setup myself so I'll be removing that extra wire and using the included double snap to attach the weight to the bottom on the bait cage itself since I have plenty of snap swivels that are heavier duty for attaching to my fishing line. The included casting finger glove is a nice addition since it is easy to get a finger slice when casting certain fishing line on a spinning reel when using crab snares or clamshell traps. The included crab gauge matches the one I already own for Washington waters so having an extra is a good thing to have. All in all, as nice of a setup as these are I would recommend finding some cheaper from Danielson cuz you're likely to lose these in the rocks so why not spend less to be able to have more on hand. I do feel that this kit is worth the price with all they include with it but I also see the value in buying more traps for the same price or going with a clamshell type crab traps over these snare traps for use with a fishing rod

First time using this set up, have been using an old school rig that my father gave me 20 years ago. This is way more modern and updated. It really is a simple contraption with bait cage and rings of coils that will snag the crab's legs as it tries to get inside the bait cage. I will be testing it once dungeness crab season opens up!
