  • Magnetic Split Design: The lower half of the dust shoe is detachable and held in place using neodymium magnets for easy access when changing cutters.
  • 15/25mm Double-layer Bristle: The inner lay bristles are shorter with a 15mm length, while the outer is 25mm which enhances dust collection and avoids getting caught with the tool bit.
  • Premium Material: This dust shoe is made of high-quality ABS and sturdy metal. Equipped with the custom-made nylon brush to maximize vacuum suction. Keep your machine and work area tidy.
  • Wide Compatibility: It is not only fully compatible with NBS-6040 & NBX-5040 but also for most of the machines on the market applying the 65mm CNC spindle motors.

NymoLabs 65mm CNC Dust Shoe

I have a NymoLabs 5040 machine (a great machine by the way) and this dust shoe is a good fit. Just like the NymoLabs CNC Router, the dust shoe's packaging, instructions, and product are truly first rate.Fit and Adjustment: The dust shoe fits popular 65mm diameter trim routers (Makita and clones). The brush contact point is directly adjustable by sliding the shoe up and down along the router/spindle. This adjustment works great with the NymoLabs equipment, but may not work in all CNC router setups.Build Considerations: I like the clear polycarbonate material as it looks very "tech," but over time, visibility through the clear polycarbonate becomes obscured by dust residue itself. The shoe features a two-part design with the upper part securing to the router/spindle and the lower part attaching to the upper via high-strength magnets. The brush material is of high quality with an inner ring of bristles backing the outer. Since the dust shoe is very compact and fits tightly around the router body, this double row of bristles helps prevent possible contact between the brush material and the end-mill. However, the overall length of the bristles is quite short, and with two rows, they can be quite resistant to compression. When doing deep engraves, you might find the overall length of the bristles and their resistance to compression undesirable. For shallow work with a depth of cut of about 1/2 inch or less, this shoe performs well (when paired with a shop vacuum, more on that later) and represents good value.Made for shop vacuums: The only real issue I have run into with this particular dust shoe design, is the restrictive nature of the dust port and the (magnet) obstructions within the dust shoe internals. This is a dust shoe that you'll want to use directly with a shop vacuum capable of generating good flow at high negative pressures - in this way, you'll still achieve reasonably good dust collection through the shoe, despite the more restrictive design. If you were to connect this dust shoe to your standard wood shop dust collector circuit, you will find, as I did, that the rather small dust port and internal obstructions are far too restrictive to yield satisfactory collection results. If you plan to run a shop vacuum or other small vacuum as your main collector when carving or engraving, you'll find this NymoLabs dust shoe to do the job well enough. However, if you plan on using your CNC router with a standard 4-inch port dust collector, you will ultimately need a dust shoe that is less restrictive. I'd suggest nothing smaller than a 2.5-inch collection port. For my application I ended up choosing a Stingray Dust Shoe for its large collection port, longer brush, and a higher-flowing wrap-around design.

A decent option for CNC router dust control -- IF your CNC uses a "trim router"-size motor. I misread the listing and ended up returning it, since my Shark CNC uses a 90mm-diameter motor from a full-size router. The mistake was mine. That being said, I like the basic design of this unit, which makes bit changes quite simple with its easily removable, magnet-held brush base. If I have concerns, they're that (1) there doesn't seem to be a way to replace worn-out brushes -- and they do wear out; and (2) the plastic seems quite brittle and thin in spots, which may prove easily damaged if you have a router-to-frame collision, as I occasionally do. I'd have been happier to see this molded from a more flexible (vinyl or rubber?) material that would offer some resistance to collision damage.

I tried all sorts of stupid things first. I'm new to cnc routing so I tried boxes, vacuum hose etc. This is surely the way to go. The size is important so measure your router throat. This fit on my Makita perfectly. I had to move it around a bit so the hose would go on and I can reach the lock button. After you set you Z zero, jog it up to 30 mm or so and slip on teh bottom. The magnets snap it into place. You may want to mount your bit as low as feasible. That will keep the shoe up higher and minimize collisions with your holers.Works like a charm and is a good value for the money.

This dust shoe works perfect on my Makita Trim Router! I love the ability to raise and lower it according to the bit length and depth of cut! My last dust shoe was not adjustable and came with 2 different length brushes. It never failed that one was always to short or to long. This shoe is well worth it! The magnets are very strong and the whole shoe is easy to mount!

This worked great out of the box and installed per instructions. Surfaced a workpiece that generates a lot of dust, all dust was either vacuumed or brushed along but staying on the work surface. Only used a small Walmart vacuum and the hose fit perfectly.
