I can't balance on this as a full grown adult weighting 150 lbs. It seems dangerous. You would need a perfectly flat surface to ride it on. You lean forward and back to start and stop it or even turn it by leaning It is kind of like a scooter without the handlebars. It makes you look kind of spooky floating up on it like a ghost. You probably can't use this for transportation in the emergency. It is more of a toy and novelty item.

This was our first hoverboard and the kids enjoyed it. There's definitely a learning curve and it takes a little bit to get comfortable with it. My kids were fairly cautious at first and slowly built up a little speed but they were always a bit nervous about going too fast. The Bluetooth audio works, but it's a bit of a gimmick in my opinion. The audio quality was meh, but it's fun I guess. You will have a better experience just wearing some ear buds I think, but at least using the speakers you can easily hear the world around you. Overall, it's a decent hoverboard and it seems to work as advertised. The kids had fun, but I'm not convinced there is staying power with it. They would prefer riding bikes or a scooter.

It definitely serves it's purpose. I did return it, nothing was wrong with it, but my 7 yr old fell off and landed hard on her bottom and refused to get back on, so I returned it.

I really haven't had a chance to put this through its paces, but I wanted to provide a quick review for now for anyone considering this as a Christmas gift. While this is the first hoverboard I've gotten for my boys, it's not the first one they've ridden so that really helped a lot when first testing this out. Apart from being slightly smaller, this one works exactly like those. Lean forward to move forward, lean back to go in reverse, press down on right to turn clockwise and left to turn the other way. Balancing is only tricky at first, but really just take a minute to get the hang of.The red and white guide lights that come on automatically are a nice touch and will certainty come in handy if you ever find yourself cruising after dark. When testing indoors, this thing moved faster than I was expecting and made me happy knowing that this has some pep. It also feels well made with durable outer plastic and nice feeling wheels. My only issue with this is some of the inconsistencies in the product description. For example, one picture says top speed is 8.5 mph while another puts it at 7.5 mph. Couldn't tell which it was based on my quick testing, though it felt fast enough. Same with range with it stating 7.5 miles of range in one place and 8.5 miles of range elsewhere. Also, like another review said, the weigh rating on the product description states 220 pounds. However, the brochure it came with states 132 pounds (for the model I ordered anyway). This could be a typo as all of the models seem to have the same dual 250w motor. Also, I weigh 144 and was able to ride it just fine without getting any over-the-weight-limit warning beep. Besides, this is for my two sons to ride--both of whom weigh less than 70 pounds.I haven't tested how long it lasts, but we really can't wait to try this outside (it's been raining the past few days where we live). Based on my quick assessment, I would recommend this for sure. If that changes after more extensive use, I update this review.
