Ideal for precise long-range calculations using low-drag precision bullets, the Hornady 4DOF (Four Degrees Of Freedom) Ballistic Calculator provides trajectory solutions based on projectile Drag Coefficient (not ballistic coefficient) along with the exact physical modeling of the projectile and its mass and aerodynamic properties.

I don't typically write product reviews (other than giving them star ratings). However, I felt that the relatively high cost for this tool warrants a review to justify the price for any would be consumers. The Hornady Kestrel 5700 is a very well made, ergonomically rugged device made for the outdoors... made to last! The device is loaded with cutting edge technology for processing exterior environmental factors, firearm, and ammunition data into a 4DOF ballistics solution that is extraordinarily accurate. I found the Kestrel to be very user friendly. There is an online manual for the device and several excellent step-by-step instructional YouTube videos to assist those (like myself) who are new to using a Kestrel. I am absolutely pleased with my purchase. It is costly but... buy once, cry once, and then you will ask yourself why you didn't pull the trigger (lol) and purchase one of these sooner! Instead of using the Hornady App with my devise, I've opted to use the Kestrel Link Ballistics App with my Hornady Kestrel 5700. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Hornady App... I just prefer using the Kestrel Link Ballistics App. I give this product 5-STARS!!!!!

Easy to use, durable, accurate. Lithium battery it came with lasted me nearly 8 months of matches every weekend. Don't overlook this if searching for a Kestrel. It is just as capable as the 5700 Elite. Accurate for 22LR out to 500+ yards and 6.5 creedmoor beyond 1500 yards. Highly recommended.

I do really like this meter. It has a lot of features and the Hornady 4DOF is a great ballistics application. I just could not afford double the price for an Elite model.

Purchased then found out will not connect to sig rangefinder all other models will of the 5700

There is lots to learn, but the 4DOF solver gives more precise solutions than other available solvers. All you need is this device and a rangefinder that measures angle of inclination and you're good to go.
