Swapped out an old crank sensor for this one and Jeep still would not start so spent another few hours checking fuses and coil before finally putting a scope on this sensor to find out it was dead. Went to auto parts store to buy a brand name sensor and then the Jeep fired right up. For as big of a pain as it is to reach and replace this sensor, do not waste your time on this cheap one.

I know you’re supposed to buy the oem CPS but, for the price, it’s worth a shot. This has lasted me about a month so far without issue. Fingers crossed.

I have been having an electrical issue with a crank no start for 2 months and have wired in a whole new asd relay in the meantime (as I thought this was the issue). After doing lots of research the cps kept coming up as a common issue.Everyone said that you need to buy oem but they were $150 and they had like 5 left in the country. I thought I would try this little $20 sensor with decent reviews and my jeep started right up! I will be buying a second as a spare and I highly reccomend you do the same as you never know how long this will last and these jeeps are picky about these sensors.Installing it was fairly easy and I highly highly reccomend you drop the transmission crossmember. All you need it a jack and to remove the 4 bolts on sides. This allows you to drop the transmission a few inches allowing you to get the socket in better and I could reach up there with my hand. I used 2 long extensions, a swivel (please please please just buy a 3/8 swivel, it will save you loads of time on this job and other jobs), and a 7/16 12 point head (easier to get on the bolts, not recfomended if you live in a rusty area).Overall satisfied and I hope to update this for everyone else looking.

13 months ago my XJ was running well one day and the next wouldn't start - just cranked and cranked. No codes.I heard you should only use OEM CPS sensors for these but couldn't afford the $150. So I took a chance and bought this one.After cobbling together a 7/16 socket onto a wobble adapter at the end of an 18" extension in order to get to the two bolts, I was able to swap out the old and install this one.I got in, turned the key and vroom! Started right up and has been running great (on 13 month old gas, no less!) for the last three days.So relieved this sensor worked, and at such a great price point. I'll probably buy another as a spare.dw

I was nervous ordering this because the price was so much cheaper than the OEM, but when it showed up, it was identical, right down to the part number stamped on it. It has worked flawlessly for me for 3 months so far.
