  • Yes, it fits Ford/Mercury/Mazda. Specific models can be viewed at five points.

  • With the engine off, pump the brake pedal until it feels firm and hold. Then, start the engine and the pedal will sink slightly if the booster is operating properly.

  • After replacing a brake booster, it may be necessary to adjust the brake light switch. Some vehicles contain a one-time use brake light switch. In these cases, the brake light switch will need to be replaced.

  • This is due to a failing master cylinder piston seal. This will result in brake fluid entering and contaminating the brake booster. The master cylinder and brake booster will need to be replaced.

  • A brake booster assists in pushing the master cylinder piston when the brakes are applied. This multiplies pedal force to decrease stopping distances.

Replaced this almost a year ago on my 1998 ford ranger. I suspect this is a booster being sold by a manufacturer to a 3rd party because issues with working well. I had fiddled with the adjustment to the master cylinder to many times finnally made a homemade threaded adjuster. The problem i found was when the threaded adjuster was fully extended there was stull to much slop, which causes poor brake performance. Soft or weak pedal. After making a homemade adjuster and setting it to where the wheels spin free i have found this booster still performs poorly but atleast better. There must be some internal slop or poor fitment internally. My homemade adjuster has made it so atleast it is useable but I am not happy with this booster. My 26 year old booster worked better, had to change it out only due to rust issues.

Although booster would mount to my 2002 Ford Ranger, the attachment to brake pedal was incorrected manufactured and would cause brake light to stay on all the time. Had reinstall old booster to clear this problem. Still need power booster for truck.
